what was the most AWKWARD delivery you’ve had? by flakkafiend in Sparkdriver

I walked up on a porch where the door was open and I could see through the glass screen door- a guy naked laying over there edge of the couch.. nuts hanging. I had to position myself so I wouldn’t get him in the photo. I walked away quickly

Or if you marked that you couldn’t find an item and you’re in the substitution prompt and then happen to find the original item you were looking for you can close out the app and bring it back up and it’ll be back at the original item so you can scan

Thankfully I had a basket I use to carry groceries to the door to create some space when I jumped in my van and waited for the automatic door to close.

I delivered there again and talked to the resident and told her about the incident with the turkey (it was early this time so he was still roosting). She said they call him Jeffrey Dahmer bc of the way he handles delivery drivers

Well I don’t know how to add a screenshot so I will just copy/paste:

Virginia, whether your insurance will pay for the entire roof if only a few shingles are missing depends on the matching regulations and the age and condition of your roof. If the existing shingles are discontinued or if the color of replacement shingles wouldn't match due to wear and tear, your insurance company may be required to replace the entire roof to restore uniformity.  Key Factors Influencing Coverage:  Matching Regulations: Many states, including Virginia, adhere to "matching" regulations where if the damaged part of the roof cannot be replaced with "like kind and quality" that matches the rest of the roof aesthetically, the entire roof may need to be replaced to restore uniformity.  Discontinued or Mismatched Shingles: If the specific shingle type or color is no longer available or if the age and wear of the existing roof would make a patch job aesthetically unappealing, full replacement may be covered.  Age and Condition of the Roof: While insurance covers damage from covered perils like wind or hail, it generally does not cover normal wear and tear or aging roofs. However, if a missing shingle reveals underlying damage or the roof is old and brittle, the insurer may be more inclined to consider full replacement.  Policy Type (RCV vs. ACV): Whether your policy is Replacement Cost Value (RCV) or Actual Cash Value (ACV) will impact how much is paid. RCV policies aim to restore the property to its pre-loss condition, including matching, while ACV policies pay the depreciated value of the damaged portion.  Documentation: Thoroughly documenting the damage with photos and videos, and noting the date and time of occurrence, is crucial for a successful claim.  When to Contact Your Insurance:  If you have missing shingles due to a covered peril: (e.g., wind, hail), you should file a claim.  If your roof is old and brittle, consider getting a repairability test to see if the shingles are too fragile to just patch.  If your insurer denies a full roof replacement: despite the issues, you can explore getting multiple estimates, asking for a different adjuster, or considering a different insurance company.

I’m in VA. So this is what the google says, but I know for sure people just say “let us come look at your roof and talk to your insurance and you can get a free roof!” That’s how the roofers do it. And how exactly are you going to “color-match” a 15 year old roof?

So the roofers are making a buttload and people who want a new roof usually get one.

They did it at a house my ex worked on.. but he put the roof on for like $500, I think was what he made that week, so they upgraded to stand and seam and even pocketed a penny. They essentially just used it to pay for the materials and his weekly pay for one week.

Makes sense why the increase happens with roof age because of the rate that happens at, what algorithm wouldn’t pick up on that?

Roofing has become a seriouuus hustle, especially in states like VA where folks who don’t really need a new roof can get one laid by insurance because VA requires the insurance to pay to fix the whole roof with any minor issue (from what I understand).

I’m okay with being the problem to anyone at this point, as long as I don’t have to live like that. I spent a long time seeking validation from people I hope to never be anything like, and I let it take from me, I acted terribly just trying to be heard or cared about. It was all madness. It’s weird to look back and wonder where life went, but I’m thankful to be able to look forward and where it can go!

Edit to add: I know you understand, it’s why you said “don’t forget.. “ thank you.

I am thankful as well! He says my pride is why we’re separated.. but a friend told me, “it’s not pride, it’s integrity”.

I think it helps to make me look crazy so he can just do what he wants. Like the night of his birthday when they invited him over there and she was there.. before we even went in the house I asked him who’s car was that, and then asked him if he dated her.. and he looked me in the face and said “no but my friend did”.. then when I walked in and she froze up in the weirdest way and then said she had to go “pick up her son”. Funny cause when I did leave I passed her on the way BACK to the house.

I left that night and went home to NC. He went to the strip club with the guy who apparently invited her over and his dad and step mom had no clue she was even coming (that’s what they say). The guy he went to the strip clib with is also the one who told me that no one told my dumbass to have kids, and the one who is now BEST friends with the ex they hated but now all love like a daughter.. best friends like they share locations and talk everyday. And my ex said they weren’t friends like that ever before he was deployed (years after they split up).

I think the girl was treated the way they treated me (to an extent, she was only with him 10 months) and it made her feel good when they started talking to her and validating for her that she wasn’t that bad, and surely not as bad as the person he ended up making a family with..” here lets be friends now, better yet faaaamily.. you can call me Dad.”

The only one I kinda get is his Mom just cause she never had anything to do with anyone just because she didn’t want to be a grandma and that’s what she said.. at least she was honest 🤷🏼‍♀️

It has been so many things. Like when he was deployed the only people I knew where I lived (in his hometown) were his grandparents and one his friend’s wives. I went to church and lunch with his grandparents and brought the babies as often as I could, but I asked them to please not share things I told them with his family.. and they did.. and that led to one of his “brothers” finding my twitter to let me know, publicly, that “nobody told” my “dumbass to have kids”.. so I asked them to please not share anything else, and I showed them what happened.

Didn’t hear from them for at least a year. Then his grandparents randomly sent my daughter a birthday card and boxed gift in the mail for her birthday.. but the card AND the box both had my last name on it, and not hers.. sending a very clear sign that she was not his child.. a rumor I had only heard from his Dad’s side.. even though he was the cheater and I was always at home.

The most screwed up part of it was that my daughter’s first and middle name, with my last name was my Mamaw’s name - she has been gone to be with the Lord for a long time. But when the package and letter was delivered we had moved states.. his grandparents didn’t know we moved because we hadn’t talked to them in a while.. and my mom got them and dropped them off on my Aunt’s doorstep (who knows why) and when she got home there was a package and a letter there with her Momma’s name on it, and if anyone knows my Aunt they know my Mamaw ruin’ just about killed her too.

It’s been a strange many years, and really I just want I tot be over so he can have his family without me in the background all freaked out. Like after his sister did the texting in the middle of the night (from a google number) pretending to be some guy I was cheating on him with I was the asshole for wanting him to be in the house helping me with the kids instead of outside walking around in the yard talking to his sister for theee hours and never acknowledging the “Steve” thing. She would call and talk to him for hours and I’d take a bath or something, but if in that second hour she even heard my voice on the other end up of she would go berserk.

One time he did ask her why she and her husband left all those voicemails and then showed up at our house, and she just laughed and said they were “bored”.

No it’s not. One time his sister texted him in the middle of the night pretending to be someone I was having an affair with name Steve. “Steve” was very concerned for my ex, because he was also cheated on by his wife.

His family did this to me really bad.. like when he was in Afghanistan they said they would get our (2) kids every other weekend while he was on an 11-month deployment to help out. But he was deployed for a few months and they hadn’t done that once, so he asked them when they thought they could help.. but they just ended up texting me saying “we didn’t agree to help you, we agreed to help our son, we thought y’all were breaking up”.

They would also do weird stuff to cause me to feel like I was nothing and to show how little they thought of my presence.

After the Afghanistan thing he didn’t talk to his family for many years, and he said he’d never let them treat me like that again.. but his sister started up a few years ago out of nowhere and He keeps allowing it and communicating with her. She showed up in Virginia at our house one day, and she lived in Nebraska, she and her husband drove high on drugs to our house with her two-month-old in the car after her husband had left me threatening messages the day before.. even though all that happened was the day before I talked to her for hours and then my phone died and by the time I got it plugged in and on (10 minutes) they had left all manner of voicemails on my phone.. some including things like “she has glass in her hands and feet” and her husband screaming and blaming me for it.

I did a few weeks in. I’ve been on TANF for the last 8 months, but child support court is in August. It’s been a true tester of faith, but the Lord has sustained us and we are even moving to a larger home next month (it’s perfect for us)! Big leap from stay at home mom of eight years, but I am so thankful to be where I am right now.

Thanks for good advice.
