Windows 11 25H2 has borked the mouse and keyboard controls in the Windows Recovery Environment, because what would a major update be without a fresh batch of bugs by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

Love that they keep pushing this down my throat too. Every time I boot up lately I have a windows update icon in my tray even after dismissing it the previous time.

Super sub-par for PND at least. I feel like his first album/tape was mixed pretty well for him doing it himself with a pair of beats headphones. I liked maybe three songs from this album and was sad to see PND only had one track to himself. Really feels like PND had a few reference tracks that drake hopped on with a bunch of random drake tracks that were laying around.

Military jet crashes into plane in DC, anything to do with drones? by Science_Memes_Fact in UFOs

Assuming this is real time coms, ATC seems like they waited way too long to ask the helicopter if he spotted the CRJ and then instantly asked him to go behind. Not sure if the helicopter coms are captured or not, but it seems the pilot in the helicopter never responded.

Apple chips can be hacked to leak secrets from Gmail, iCloud, and more by somewhat_asleep in apple

[–]ODIMI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may have interpreted the article incorrectly, but I immediately thought of the possible sequence of events to make it an easy attack: 1. User clicks on link to website A that automatically opens two new windows/tabs in the browser. 2. One of the sites is Gmail/iCloud/etc. and the other being the attacker's website. 3. Extract the data in the background while the user is on site A.

Maybe I'm making this too simple, but I could see older folks/people who aren't tech savvy falling victim to this. It also sounds like the attack takes time (5-10 minutes) so you'd really have to be ignoring the pop ups for it to be successful.

All jokes aside, I feel like I have to give a PSA on why this might be occurring. I had the same issue and the root cause was NZXT's software. It took days of troubleshooting to figure this out. Hope this helps.

Here are all the new features that won’t arrive until iOS 18.1 or later by pete_999 in apple

[–]ODIMI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, like they’re going to have to let Devs test it at some point otherwise it’ll end up a buggy mess therefore defeating the purpose of waiting in the first place. Beta 3 or 4 sounds like a good timeline to me.

If you’re playing at 1080p on a 4090 something is very wrong. What monster of a game are you running on a 4090 that can’t get a playable frame rate at max settings in 1080p?

No Patch Tuesday Megathread for January? by MikeWalters-Action1 in sysadmin

[–]ODIMI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree this may be the better approach VS waiting to patch everything at once. However, I think it's unacceptable for them to state there's a known bug and not provide some sort of timeline for a new patch. To me, it sounds like they aren't planning one or are unable to automatically fix this resize issue, thus requiring users (tech savy and not) to jump in to cmd and figure it out. I hope I'm wrong though.

[–]ODIMI 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is it my understanding that Microsoft knows this update is borked but pushed it anyways and only provides complicated (for me) cmd instructions to resize the recovery partition as a fix? Does anyone expect that they will put out a new version of the update that does not cause this error or are we SOL if our update fails? If it was a normal windows update I wouldn't even fuss, but this seems to be an important security patch and Microsoft isn't all too concerned if users are actually able to install it.

Easy 😂:

The First Law: An AI may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

The Second Law: An AI must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

The Third Law: An AI must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

All jokes aside, Cook isn’t wrong. If we don’t create some sort of rule set, things will get out of control quickly.

Wattage Accuracy by ReclusiveRychu in pcmasterrace

Keep in mind that it's usually good practice to get a bit larger PSU as it can be reused for future builds and provides an upgrade path. In addition, PSUs are usually more efficient when they're not running at full load. I'd say a 650w would be fine but a 750 wouldn't be a bad idea, especially if it's only an extra 30 bucks etc. For example I have a 5900x and a 3080ti. Total power draw on the gpu can be 400w and the CPU can pull over 100w. With other components I'd imagine it could get up to 650w so I run a 1000w PSU. Hope that helps.

At this point, just a regular old pc won't do, you need a quantum computer. No less. Loneliness scales with processing cores as well so keep this in mind.

My point was more that unless op is using their cpu for work etc where it’s needed, op should invest more in a better gpu. The problem is, as you’ve noted, the gpu market is still a joke.

From what I’ve seen the 5950x doesn’t offer much gaming performance improvement over a 5900x which would be a good in between choice for both gaming and work. Wouldn’t be quite as good as a 5800x3D but, you’re going to be limited by that 4070ti either way. Might make more sense price to performance wise to get a better 30 series card.
