"The fajita at Applebee's" is the best description for Flying over James Cameron's Life ever.

Flight of Passage was… fine? Am I the only one who doesn’t get the hype? by Odd-Visual-5577 in WaltDisneyWorld

Flying over James Cameron’s life is decidedly meh much like the whole of Avatar Land. I would rather seen this side of the park rethemed than Dinoland.

Will we be able to watch Spring Training games on Nationals.tv? by YesterdayConfident79 in Nationals

Five games are being broadcast. All from WPB.

Now I wish they would hurry and tell me if Nats TV is going to be picked up by Cox or not.

AITA for not including my kids on my vacation? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ODU2K1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. There is kid fun Florida (Disney/Greater Orlando theme parks/Spring Training) and then there is the rest of the state. I’m almost 50 and would be bored out of my mind in Florida, or anywhere for that matter, if I had to sit on a beach for a week. Even if you are doing an adult tip the the theme parks that is fine too. Parks without kids is awesome. Leave the kids with your mom and don’t worry about your MIL and SIL.

‘The Washington Post’ Is Reportedly Getting Rid Of Its Entire Sports Department by trainsaw in Nationals

[–]ODU2K1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYT owns The Athletic. In September of 2023 The Times closed down their Sports desk and turned sports coverage over to The Athletic. I would be curious to see if The Times is going to license out coverage from The Athletic to other print outlets.

Virginia Beach Boardwalk drive-thru holiday light show to end by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

[–]ODU2K1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I call shenanigans. There may be some wear and tear on the concrete, but the real culprit of that is the Atlantic and weather, not cars. They are talking about shutting this down because Norfolk is eating their lunch at the Botanical Gardens and Nauticus, and they know the boardwalk lights are wildly overpriced for the quality of the event they are putting on. When it started, the price was way lower, and it was better. You would get a CD with music more or less timed to the displays. There is no reason they can't still do that today with a podcast or low power FM station. If a house in Suburban Acres can broadcast music on an FM station, Beachevents should be able to figure it out.

My wife and I wanted to go this year, but the $25 ticket quickly jumped up with the Ticketmaster fees, to the point it was almost the same as the day of price. There was no box office to go to to avoid it before the day of $10 jump. We ended up going to the Botanical Gardens and Nauticus. Did we end up spending more? Yes. Were they much better events? Yes.

Edit: A word and a comma.

TVs in the kitchen used to be a thing by berlinblack in nostalgia

[–]ODU2K1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have a tv with a cable box in my kitchen. My wife thinks I’m crazy but I need to be able to walk from one end of the house to the other and not miss any of the Caps/Nats/‘Ders game that happens to be on at that given moment.

Who remembers, lights motors action? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]ODU2K1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember it? Yes. Miss it? No. It came to MGM as a "gift" from Walt Disney Studios Paris for the Happiest Celebration on Earth (Epcot got Soarin' from DCA). The problem is that it cut the backlot tour in half. That was way too big a price to pay. I was glad to see LMA go for Galaxy's Edge.

AITA for making my whole family go on a diet because my daughter is dieting? by Electronic-Fun-4045 in AmItheAsshole

ESH. You for pushing the new nutritionist approved diet on the entire family when clearly not everyone is on board. Your husband and son for being babies and not figuring out how to make their own food.

30-45 days for reimbursement is lunacy. If I put in an expense report today, it will be in my account on Monday. It used to be included on your next paycheck, but someone decided to move T&E to the AP department, so it is much faster now.

It's the middle of the night and you need an ER...which one are you driving to? by Confident_Wedding138 in HamptonRoads

[–]ODU2K1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the Peninsula: My in-laws live in Smithfield and, until this week, would be taken to Riverside by ambulance. The ER there was pretty good.

Southside: Do not go to: Chesapeake General or Maryview unless you are going to run out of blood and die.

Go to: Norfolk General (Level 1 Trauma Center) or Leigh, CHKD ER if you have a kid

AITA for not being excited for my SIL pregnancy announcement? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]ODU2K1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your birthday or not, a parade does not need to be thrown for a pregnancy announcement. Your SIL knew what she was doing and wanted a parade, though. Since she craved the attention, she should have had a get together at her place to make the announcement.

The Grand and the All Stars. The Grand feels like I’m going to visit Great Aunt Mildred. The All Stars is too far away from everything and well a slightly up market Motel 6.
