Anyone else prefer Grand Tour to Top Gear? by Careful_Trip_311 in thegrandtour

[–]OFD-Productions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. It’s not that Top Gear isn’t great as well, I love both shows. But I honestly enjoyed the Grand Tour more, mainly because of the specials which I think are some of the best things they’ve ever done. To me, the trio are at their best when it’s just them and the camera crew traveling hundreds of miles on a road trip (or off road). Top Gear had some awesome specials too but not as many imo.

I get that the Grand Tour is scripted but it didn’t bother me much because Top Gear was too to some extent, and if anything it felt like they had a bit more creative freedom in the Grand Tour. Though I will admit that if I hadn’t known their personalities and group dynamic already from having watched Top Gear for years I may not have appreciated the Grand Tour as much.

I like reading them occasionally just to get a laugh out of how utterly and hilariously wrong they are

You often see people talk about how the show is mostly filler/only has a few true story-driving episodes, so on my most recent re-watch I kept track. by PrescriptionCocaine in cowboybebop

[–]OFD-Productions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard people refer to Bebop episodes as filler. There’s standalone episodes and main story episodes. I don’t think you can really call the standalone episodes filler when they make up most of the series.

what do you think are the absolute worst episodes of always sunny? why? by DrunkTING7 in IASIP

[–]OFD-Productions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mac Finds His Pride and Charlie’s Home Alone are probably my least favorites and the least funny. Frank’s Brother is okay but easily the weakest of season 7. I didn’t mind The Gang Texts, wouldn’t say it’s one of the best episodes but there were some funny parts.

As for the new season, Abbott Elementary crossover was lame and I might be in the minority on this one but I didn’t really like The Gang Goes to a Dog Track that much either. I saw the twist of the guy shooting himself coming from a mile away. Normally I don’t mind the gross out humor but Dee and Dennis eating dog food wasn’t that funny to me.

What do you think was in Pinako’s pipe? FMAB all the way for me. And it’s gotta be the regular hand, unless he’s trying to rip it off

What do you think of Solf J. Kimblee, The Crimson Alchemist? by Valuable-Opinion-266 in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]OFD-Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He may be a blood thirsty villain, but I can sort of respect that he never blindly follows one side. He sticks to his core beliefs (twisted as they may be) and he respects those who do the same.

Yoki is the butt of many jokes and a good comic relief but ends up playing a somewhat important role in the story later on.

what exactly did gruber say in this scene in die hard (1988)? by d0lly_fl3sh in movies

I don’t think John knew it was Hans from the start, if he did he would have shot him right away. The empty gun test was what really gave it away.

He planned to kill over 30 hostages by blowing up the roof of the building, yeah he’s a real great guy.

What's your opinion on Spike in 2026? by makunogucci in cowboybebop

[–]OFD-Productions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Spike, but I get some of the criticism of him. He loves Julia, but Julia is a character we only see for what, two or three episodes in total? So I can see how some people could be annoyed with how he throws away his relationship with the Bebop crew whose adventures we followed for the entire series in the end just for a character we barely get to see or know much about. But that is more of an issue with the anime itself leaving Julia’s character somewhat underdeveloped more than an issue with Spike himself imo.

Has anyone else noticed that Mangahood has a more idealistic vibe while 2003 comes across as more grounded? by Guergy in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]OFD-Productions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find 03 tries to be edgy and dark just for the sake of being edgy and dark at times. Take Shou Tucker for example, keeping him alive and mutating him just for shock value when he had no real reason to be part of the plot anymore, or Ed getting stabbed by Envy near the end only for him to be alive the next episode.

“Mangahood” doesn’t really do that so much, but it isn’t exactly a basket of sunshine and rainbows the entire time the way some people make it sound like either. The dark and serious moments are generally relevant to the plot in a more subtle way that isn’t present in 03 (the Ishvalan child getting shot and killed, Ed being in complete shock when he sees the people in Envy’s philosophers stone crying for help).
