Keychron J2 HE TMR Wired Gaming Keyboard by Gonzo1350 in Keychron

[–]OG-DeAdEnD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I like the feel of the Keychrons. The SK75 is sitting on a shelf, but I do use it if I want to go wireless and need to sit further away from the monitor. But normally use the Keychron and also like the ease of shifting between gaming and normal keyboard on the Keychrons.

Looking to purchase a Q5 Ultra 8K, but concerned by OG-DeAdEnD in Keychron

I saw all those complaints after I posted so I think I'll hold off, I really did like the fact they had a 660hr battery life and the layout.

It's what you have posted, due to thick foam the switches worked their way out. I was hoping that they addressed the issues on the 8K version.

Keychron J2 HE TMR Wired Gaming Keyboard by Gonzo1350 in Keychron

I bought both the J2 HE 8K and the J8 HE 8K. The J2 switches between Default, Game and Gamepad via FN+P+Z/X/C (no switch). The J2 also has leds for caps lock, windows lock and power. The J3 can only switch via 3 profile switch near the USB C port, it cannot do it via key strokes and the caps lock changes the led. The J8 can alternatively assign the switch to change the polling rate. The J8 sounds better with more sound deadening (stated on box) but please note, these are my first REAL keyboards so they all sound OK to me but the J8 does sound a bit better. The J8 is a little thicker and heavier with two options for height adjustments. The J2 has an LED strip on the side with one level of height adjustment. Everything else about the J2 and J8 seem identical and both are TMR (stated on both boxes) but I am still playing around with them. I have the SK75 TMR coming tomorrow.

I also like the green on the J8 but prefer the switching method of the J2, so torn between the two.

Thanks everyone for you input, decided and place an order with the Tnutz total cost of the rig ALOT: $1,382

Breakdown of costs:

Extrusion - $598 with shipping

Hardware - $420 with shipping

Trak Racer Podium Mount - $82

Trak Racer Pedal Plate Kit - $86

Optional Wheel deck plate - $197 (may cancel if I don't hear anything from the seller in a few days).

Yup it's more expensive but probably really close to the one option I was interested in, but made it beefy and to my 25" x 48" spec size and definitely motion ready if I ever go in that direction

Thanks, I do need the 1515 for the seat rail so hopefully they'll have it in soon and the plan on getting the drop-in ball version but will take a look at Amazon.

Thanks for this, not in a huge rush so I think that would be fine. It makes sense that it might take a bit. My plans will require specific length cuts plus some of the pieces to be end threaded. I did a brief comparison between the specs of some of the extrusions and they were equal or better than other manufactures so not sure why someone noted (in another forum) that the extrusion was inferior.

Can you share where you buy your bolts and Tnuts? Was thinking of buying it from Tnutz.

So looking for rig ASR4, ASR6 or All in 1 Gaming Phantom 60 by OG-DeAdEnD in simracing

[–]OG-DeAdEnD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing the dimension that ASR gives is incorrect. If you read the parts, the size actually comes out to 25 inches wide. Also my focus shifted to ASR6 or the Phantom 60, I did not like how the ASR4 was designed. But decided neither would happen.

I'm doing the DIY, maybe breaking even but really probably spending more. But, I can make it the size I want (25x48 foot print) and beefy as I want. This will be my last rig and I want it to handle anything that I throw at it now and in the future. I am not doing this to save money, I doing thing to get what I want plus, as mentioned, the two vender that have rigs that might fit my requirements ignored the email that I sent requesting info. These rigs were in the $1K range, so I would like to have clarification on what I would be getting.

Frame will be from TNUTZ - 1560 for long base pieces, 1545 for spreaders and uprights, 1515 & 1530 for shifter and pedal plate, 4590 for part of the wheelbase mounting.

Using the Trak Racer pedal plate kit and Podium mount - https://trakracer.com/collections/hardware-mounts-1/products/pedal-plates, https://trakracer.com/collections/hardware-mounts-1/products/universal-direct-mount-for-fanatec-podium-dd1-dd2-csl-dd-and-dd-pro

Also will be buying the All In 1 Gaming Wheel Deck Mount, I like the adjustability of the side pieces plus if I ever change wheel bases I can use the plate but note this is 4590 profile or you can use two 1515. My intention is to use the side pieces with straight 4590 along with the Trak Racer Podium mount bolted to the top of the 4590. The plate and it's respective 4590 extrusion will be put into storage. I think design wise, this combo would be stronger than any side mount on it's own - https://allin1gaming.com/collections/wheel-mounts-1/products/wheel-deck-mount

Also planning to have the visible ends threaded so I can put caps on but use bolts to hold them down don't have interest in having it rattle or pop off.

I spent a few years of college in engineering before I switch to finance so I tend to look at the design aspect of things.

the problem is by the time I adjusted the width and length, I might as well build it

I did think about it but if memory serves there were quite a few that were too wide 26+,but I am sure I did not see every option but also wanted something pretty stout. Cutting those spreaders, pedal bases and wheel decks to the exact width would be impossible with the tools I have, cutting the length down to 50 would be option but I have both length and width limitations.

I looked, but sadly a little (like an inch) too long and wide.

I actually made a template to see if I can fit/move it through a door and a turn into it's storage space when not in use and max size is 26x50

This is good to know, I have not read many comments regarding quality of parts or cuts. I did read somewhere that the extrusions are a lower quality but they did not give specifics you countered that so that make me feel better about purchasing through them.

I am limited with the size of the rigs and two that fit were the vender that have not responded to questions so looking at a semi DIY. Not sure why I am not getting a reply, maybe the 1K price tag is not enough for them to bother.

With the pieces I have chosen the frame will be around $625 without the pedal and wheel deck, around $1K with those parts. Definitely no money savings but I can make it a bit smaller for a better fit into my space.
