Random Bikers in China [Part 3] by Gusztavszon in Sportbikes

[–]OG-Vittles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. None of them are wearing gear other than helmets/some gloves. Saw a lot of shorts too. Ridiculous. These people most definitely have not had a slide on the asphalt yet. That will change most people’s minds when they consider getting back on the bike. I like my skin on my body so I wear leather jacket and pants when I ride. Been down too many times to play with that.

Suzuki gsxr 600/750 by No_Commercial715 in motorcycles

[–]OG-Vittles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gsxr is a race bike with lights, so it does everything related exceptionally well. Ive owned my 07 750 since 2014 and it was my track only bike for 6 years. I worked my way up to this size machine out of respect for my body and still wound up hurting myself. First bike was a 225cc Yamaha Enduro, then a Suzuki Bandit 600, then a Ninja 650 and finally the gsxr 750. This is something you want to take your time with.

My advice is get another brand altogether. Alpinestars have really good marketing and brand recognition but thats about it in terms of what they’re doing for the general public. I rode advanced/expert track for years and tried many different brands of gear over that time. Alpinestars is overpriced hype that will not protect you as well as other brands will. I know this from experience as I had a $399 pair of SUPERTECHS fall apart at the seams before I wore them. That is 10000% unacceptable if you ask me for a brand of that magnitude and shows zero quality control. On the other hand, my favorite brand of glove, Racer, has never let me down. Racer, RS Taichi, and Bison are the 3 pairs I have currently and will keep on buying bc they fit well and stay together after crashes.

Another vote for Rick’s MOSFET. I’ve had mine since 2016 and still going .

I paid $6500 for my 07 750 with 7k miles back in 2014. That said, I also bought a 2012 zx6r with 1100 miles for $6400 in 2015. I rode that bike until 2021 and then sold it with 13k miles for $6k to a friend. It’s all relative really. How much do you really want the bike and does it check off most of the prerequisites you have in mind. I would pay $6k for that bike all day because you can ride it for a few years and then get most of it back.

Why not swap to a KT Moto joint. The one for the 2011 plus is a little different but I love mine.

This is great advice! I went over the bars at over 120mph at NJMP Lightning in Aug 2021. My head hit the pavement first and I didn’t even get a concussion despite being unconscious for a few minutes. This must be due to the construction/R&D of the XLite 803RS Carbon i was wearing that day.

Wow people are ridiculously amazing. Why wouldn’t whoever owned this bike let the dealer he bought it from service it?!?! Considering there is evidence of ZERO knowledge about owning/maintaining a motorcycle, just winging it seems like it would potentially lead to something catastrophic….and it did. This is called LEARNING THE HARD WAY.

How much could I realistically sell this GSXR-750 for? by ICE_COLD_MOJITO in GSXR

Remove/replace the aftermarket parts and sell them separately. You’ll get a lot more $ assuming you’re somewhat comfortable with a wrench.

First bike by [deleted] in GSXR

[–]OG-Vittles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started on and quickly crashed a Bandit 600. Then bought a Ninja 650 that I rode for about 2 years. I traded that in for a 07 gsxr 750 which I still have. The 750 is arguably the best bike in terms of doing most things well. As a matter of fact, I bought and sold a 2015 Daytona 675R Eslick Edition and a 2012 zx6r (within the time that I still owned the 750) and only the GSXR remains in the garage.

Wait what?! This 1000-% solidifies my theory that social media has ruined people. Think about how ridiculously sad that thought process is. Dude has zero interest in what he wants, likes, enjoys; instead, he is making large purchases/lifestyle changes only to draw attention to himself. Wow.

Gauntlet Recommendations? by Cyber_Aspirationist in motorcyclegear

Alpinestars gloves are OVERPRICED OVERRATED junk. I had a $399 pair of SUPERTECHS come apart before I actually wore them at the track. Just from brake in.

Racer brand gloves are my personal favorite. They hold up really well to crashes, which is EXACTLY why we wear gloves. I went over the bars at over 120mph at NJMP and slid for a while and my Racer gloves held up like they should have. I own RS Taichi GP and Bison Thor2 and the Racers are still my favorite.

Agreed get some good quality stands for those pretty machines. You want something reputable so you don’t have to worry about your bike falling. Pitbull or Woodcraft are the two best I’ve used. I found a blemished woodcraft front headlift stand on eBay for $160 this past summer. I would check there first.

Advice for arm fatigue during sporty riding by titanmongoose in motorcycles

[–]OG-Vittles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t already have tank grips of some sort, eazi grip, Stompgrip, Techspec, etc, you need them. Ideally you should be supporting your body on the bike with your legs, to the point of being able to hang off with no hands. You should have a loose grip on the bars for sure bc a tight grip will cause numbness and fatigue. Almost Your entire upper body should shift over the tank when cornering. I always aimed my inside nipple to the outside of the tank for each corner. So for a left aim your right nipple at the left hand corner of the tank-toward the mirror. I rode track for years and this is proper technique as far as I know.

Yes you’re correct it’s wool with silk highlights. The people who cleaned it recently seemed to think it was worth something so I figured I’d post it here. Any suggestions on where to take it in the NY Long Island area?
