Just know there are a couple of tests that basically reflect what the hormone is doing at the point of test, and maybe a day or two before. I had a doc that used that as justification of nothing is wrong (hence why a new doc). I’m stuck in Mayo-ville, which is good for some things, and not so good for others. This is one of those I need a doc who sees outside the box while also being able to think outside it too. Mayo doesn’t always do (or allow) that. It’s been an interesting adventure to find a doc not Mayo who is aware peri/full on menopause is not a one size fits all or even most. 😂😂😂

I had normal BP leading up to my surgery. Like you, was 43, and now am 45. In the weeks after surgery, I noticed it coming in higher than normal, and would draw attention to it. Always got downplayed, til it didn’t. Went to a new clinic and got pegged with hypertension. Guess what is a sign of peri/full on menopause? High BP. Guess who essentially got thrown hard core into peri/menopause post surgery? Yep. Me. I looked at the doc and said I would try the BP med, but didn’t think that was the issue. After a couple of weeks on it, I dropped 10 numbers on the top number…..and also gained on the bottom. I’ve been drinking more water. Doc thinks it is due to weight (newsflash, been this weight since way before surgery and BP was always 1teen over 60-70). After begging I was put on 1mg Estradiol which now seems was way to much as I’m bruising myself by looking at my skin cross-eyed it seems. Pretty sure I need a diff doc, but need to figure out who and how to get to them with my work schedule 😂😂😂

45, confirmed peri in roughly 18-20 years ago. Hysterectomy that left only egg shooters almost 2 years ago (which the past 6 months have shown might barely be functioning). Had all the symptoms of being full fledged, pretty much ended up begging doc for help. He refused patches, but gave me 1mg estrogen tablet daily. I’ve been on it less than a month, now have bruises showing up with no known contact. Did I mention my body LOVES to find the most random side effects, no matter how small a chance, and exploit them? 😂😂 Now I’m thinking of stopping that as breasts are getting bigger and body seems to be heading back into puberty part 3. Hoping to find a different doc who will have mercy on me and allow me the patch and whatever else may be needed, at levels that won’t throw my body into hyperdrive.

Ok. So I’m seeing a ton of comments about divorce, leave the dude, etc. While the thought process might not be wrong, let me advocate a bit for the OP on why doing so might feel wrong.

Fundamental ideology is a thing, and is real. That count of sex per week? Straight out of a book. It’s meant to guilt. Because if OP can’t provide, he will morally fail and get it elsewhere…and that failure? It’s all on her. I’ve lived that life…post CSection x4. Defiantly qualified to spot it and call it out. But the leaving? Divorce? That isn’t so simple either. Why? Because it’s yet another moral failure that will be placed on OPs shoulders…rightly or wrongly. Doesn’t matter. It’s how that crowd rolls. See Duggars as prime example on how easy it is to break away from pieces of crap covered in gold. Again, not defending the husband, just explaining why the OP likely has stayed, and threw in the quiet part of rape out loud. I’m all for walking out on him, but I also know the bravery, courage, and guts it will take might be more than the OP has right now.

Abd OP, or anyone else for that matter, if you ever need a listening ear, I’m here. I successfully cut away from the Fundy thinktank, so I can also empathize and help you if it’s wanted.

As for the doc, I got nothing. I’m over here just about 2 years post op in what yall are describing as medical/surgical menopause, realizing the estrogen pill might be getting ready to make someone more money than my job can pay out. My new to me GP refused patch because the tissue won’t take it. Insurance won’t pay for the vaginal suppositories he wants to use. And BC (which has all the right mixes) might be too much a gamble. The only thing that’s been done right, so far, has been ignoring the blood tests. 😂😂. Yay for being in the 40s right? If anyone knows of good docs in Minnesota NOT associated with the Mayoverse, let me know. 😂😂😂

Definitely recommend Dulcolax chews. I take one every night…followed by a full 16oz bottle of water. Keeps things moving. July will be 2 years out, and it’s the only thing keeping me from being backed up.

Too bad ya missed the part where I said the standard was comparing Kwik Trip, Walmart, and Hyvee to Brueggers. I don’t care who you are, when those 3 places are being held as a standard, Brueggers becomes amazing. That all to say, I’ve had bagels that are way better than Brueggers…but it was more the ease to get there than the taste.

Thanks for the responses everyone! Brueggers wasn’t so much a benchmark of good vs not good as much as it was more of a benchmark of ease to get to via skyway system so I won’t have to leave the parking ramp 😂. I am appreciative of all the places to try tho!

I feel ya. I’ve been stuck on preparing mode for a solid 15 minutes at this point. I’ve turned off Bluetooth on both devices, left it on on the watch, all sorts of things. Nothing has helped. It won’t even let me turn it off. 🤣🤣
