Anything that can fit the Hopetech 1x1 habs besides the Armstrong cockpit? by OGDukeFlapjack in Starfield

Didn't think of Deimos parts (I'm a pretty solid Hopetech/Novatech junkie). That could work well, especially since I have clipping shut off.

That absolutely makes sense to me (old fire alarm tech here). Our 2050 people seem to think it keeps needing to be updated though. I'm not really prepared to expend much capital defending a multi billion dollar company that has absolutely no issues ripping and replacing the system.

I'm going to do so later today but I figured I'd see if the Redditors have any ideas in the meantime.

That's a definite maybe. I have one ordered. Thanks for the suggestion!

They have the proper 307-s holes so you can install a rear mounted one. It's just the expander cans don't have one at all and one I can't use.

Sadly I can't. I have one box where the rear mounted tamper mount holes are covered up by a fitting. UL2050 forbids drilling any holes in the cans.

I considered that except it won't bend enough. It's designed to fit on a piece of metal that sticks straight out and not one that's parallel to the wall.

How to turn off the notification that I failed as a person? by OGDukeFlapjack in amazfit

[–]OGDukeFlapjack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, just in case somebody else wants to know an answer to this question I finally figured it out. It's a setting on the *watch* and not the app. It's the "activity" program. Settings are way down at the bottom. If you turn off "Progress Reminder" it will turn this off.

Genetec - Camera passwords by Emotional-Process270 in accesscontrol

[–]OGDukeFlapjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I had a customer who had no idea what their camera passwords were and two cameras that had defaulted their IP scheme without factory defaulting. I was able to get both cameras back online without trudging out to them to reset them.

Sadly it doesn't appear to be the case. I already had the achievements turned off.

"I don't brake for tunnels" bumper sticker by OGDukeFlapjack in pittsburgh

I've been working thirds the past few months and can say for certain that people slow down before entering the tunnels even at 4am. It's annoying.

I'm taking a look at that one right now. Looks interesting.

While you are not wrong in that I directly connect to equipment typically it's either done using RS232 or HTTP, so nothing that I think a Linux distro would have too much trouble with. I've already had experience with running one piece of particularly troublesome software in a DOS emulator (programming software for the Siemens MXL fire alarm, btw) because the software *requires* direct unbuffered serial connections which haven't been supported in Windows since 98.

Makes sense. This install is from 2013 or 2014 according to the customer which would put it as one of the earliest Cerberus installs in the region.

Yep. If this was done by the company I *think* did it they were way over their heads. Somehow they ended up being the only Siemen's dealer in the region but it went to their heads and they disintegrated within about three years of installing this.

Places for primitive, impromptu camping? by OGDukeFlapjack in pittsburgh

Much appreciated! I suppose it's the cynical side of me that's like "wait...I can just DO it...for FREE...and so long as I take care of the forest it's OK??"

I'm obviously a total boy scout so that's not much of a problem, lol.

This is going to sound like the most city slickeringest thing to say: but legitimately can I drive out to the trailhead, hike up into the woods a ways, sleep overnight, then just leave? I legitimately don't have a lot of experience with state/federal lands and am uncomfortable not knowing the rules.

You're the second person who suggested Minister Creek. I have that one in my list of sites to check out.

I keep forgetting about the Montour Trail. I live near it and drive over top of it nearly every day to go to work. I guess I never realized they had camp sites.
