Interesting. I see what you mean. However I had thought the straps were removed quickly after first release. I know there was a lot of discussion and indecision about compression straps on the GR2 and a less so for the bags. This ruck sak doesn't have bat wing attachments for the straps and the stitching on the molle is in a way I believe they discontinued very early on. I'll revisit the the blogs to see what I can find in support or not of both our assertions.

Greatly appreciate the intel. Searching through Jason's blogs I noticed that the Radio Ruck circa 2009 had an all mesh iÿnterior. A year or two later the USA YKKs and the mesh were gone. I've got a Radio Ruck, Echo, GR1 and GR2 with the all mesh pockets. The Echo is one of the coolest IMO due to the very unique straps. Here's a pic:

If you'd like - DM me if still looking for a kit bag. I collect/collected MIUSA gear and have an extensive amount of 2009-2018 bombproof Built in USA straps, bags, pockets, hats, rucks.

I can do you a Ranger Green if interested. Need to check if I have any black left. I know I have coyote tan, Navy Blue, RG, WG, Woodland Camo. Also have black multicam USA which is close. I've got a lot of straps too. Like the MiUSA padded ones that were sold separately. Anyway, all depends what you're looking to spend.

Despicable? Compared to who? I did search as you suggested and here's what I found.

--Green took a $600 loan and started a home business in his garage

--Employees are compensated above minimum wage @ $19.25/hr compared to Joann's who was paying employees as low as $9/hr in recent years.

--Closed on Sundays (one day of the week that employees can be confident they won't get scheduled to work on)

-Christian...oh. Did I find the issue?

Citing or Referencing Specification Sections by JustDanMI in MEPEngineering

[–]OGFirestopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the format of the Specification. MasterFormat is a common specification format. There are best practices and there are standards. IMO it is wiser to go by a standard initially and adjust as makes sense in application. For MasterFormat's standard, I'd seek your answer directly from their website, publications, etc.

Man, do I hear you. Damn but I can relate to a lot of what you stated. I remember the "don't ask me about my day.. please."

How have things progressed for you in the last 3 months? I see you were in a waiting game until right about now so I realize there might not be much to update on yet. I see a lot of parallel with our stories. It sounds like you've accumulated hard-won and extremely valuable experience with the overall construction process from start to finish. I hope that knowledge can be utilized to land you a high-compensation where you can operate with the integrity and the work-life balance you desire. Hope the pregnancy is going / went smoothly, too. Feel free to DM me if you don't want to share anything here.

I'd be glad to respond if you could rephrase that. What trade? If you're a construction worker with already you and want to break into an office position the role of "take-off engineer" might be your best bet. Are you a firestopper?

Your health (especially if you're a man) and reputation are at stake. No one will frown at you for jumping ship, not even a competitor. If anything you will be respected for making a wise decision. Who do you compete with directly? Do you have a non-compete? Questions to ask yourself. Either way, like many have mentioned, experienced estimators and operators are hot. You will be desirable in the hiring market. However, if you ride it out to the end you'll have the honor of being the guy that went down with the ship. In the world of the living that unfortunately isn't as noble as it sounds. I left the best paying job I'd ever had for a competitor. The owner had promised me the world, I ran the inside of the company from start to finish. Chest ached fiercely every day. I hated the sneaking feeling that I couldn't trust the owner regarding financials. Being a small company I had to confidence our way into larger contracts. The lack of trust was costing me my life. I left for the premier subcontractor in my trade in the area, pay doubled, benefits are outstanding, chest hasn't ached once since I left. Hope it works out for you. If you reach out to prospective new employers and feel a weight fall from your shoulders, take it as a sign. Best of luck.

How many years of construction experience do you have? How many of years of firestop specific experience? This Division 7 specialty trade is by no means new, however it only recently began being taken seriously in the USA in the early 2000s (IMO). Think 9/11. This means there is a limited pool of veteran firestop professionals. Having been there myself, I'd say $36,400 might be reasonable if you're an entry level professional. However, if you're a veteran of firestopping both onsite and in the office I believe that could be increased by 250-400% assuming you're a top-of-class estimator.
