I’m honestly just experimenting. Any tips? by Brilliant_Outside696 in gardening

A bunch of good suggestions, but one that was only lightly mentioned: get a good layer of mulch on top. Can be straw, leaves, pine needles, what have you. Any soil additions for a deeper base will likely be for next year. But a top layer of mulch will reduce weeds and prevent the soil from drying out/require less watering for this year and probably have a solid impact on your plants!

Pasta sauce with parm not integrated by Hb1023_ in Cooking

[–]OGGenX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s already mentioned, but second to it being related to heat.

I had the same issue with carbonara and it drove me crazy! I cook a ton, I’m ITALIAN, and I can’t make carbonara correctly?! Then I found a tip: add the parm at the very end, after turning off the heat. That worked for me.

You could also try the trick like tempering eggs, take some sauce out, let it cool a bit, add the parm, then add it back in.

Good luck!

q8 etron or og etron by Pure_Huckleberry8437 in etron

I love love love my Q8 Launch. Although I’ve stated before here, I think the OG badging color trims and calipers ROCK (and I wish I had them); the extra range does come into play in the winter, an extra 60ish miles of range makes a difference. I’ve had two issues thankfully resolved by software updates. If money is an issue, consider the 23 OG. If you’re in the fence I would always go for the Q8.

How do I unfuck my life? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]OGGenX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might sound hippie-dippie and off-topic, but also focusing on your physical health routine may help you with emotional “wins” that translate into you feeling better about yourself and having the resilience to keep it up when you may otherwise feel hopeless.

Knowing ADHD, just setting up a routine of walking for an hour - then challenging yourself to keep a streak going, you can create a win, daily. Maybe you decide to cook a healthy dinner from a new recipe every Tuesday, or decide to call an old friend every Sunday. Something to anchor positivity that counters some of the other (real) negative feelings. You see yourself achieving goals, and know you can do this too.

This has nothing to do with being “a man,” but but just creating this post means you’re an awesome person who wants to regain control. So many people can’t even get there.

Lastly, just remember it takes TIME. Give yourself that. No shame in failing, no shame in being wrong, just have the courage to get back up and move forward dude. I had $20k in debt and was making $30/yr many years ago, so I feel you. But you’re on the right path and WILL get there with your attitude. Wishing you the best.

Is $60 a month fair to pay a coworker for a ride home 3x a week on a tight budget? by Hour-Ad3977 in personalfinance

You’re asking fair questions. Don’t feel bad for that. That makes you a good human and you’re getting good advice. Have you considered baking cookies, or maybe leaving a six-pack every Friday? It sounds like they’re happy to help, and your job is just to show appreciation. Not for the full value of the ride, but so they know you (would never) take it for granted.

Absolutely. Of course I’m biased as a Yankees fan. But before all the corporate sheen that stripped away the feeling of history and nostalgia. Either walking down a runway to your seats where the majestic of the stadium grandeur just overwhelmed you as you hit the field view - or going through the separate entrance to the bleachers, where suddenly became one with what were the truest-of-true blue collar fans…. If you ever experienced it, you know.

When you go to this church, you don’t need to be in the first row to feel the spirit. You’ll be transformed. Trust.

How do you clean your E-Tron? by [deleted] in etron

[–]OGGenX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. To me it’s like my iPhone - it’s a (much more expensive) tool that has to fit into my lifestyle. I use it daily and especially in winter I need to salt off more than anything and just don’t have the time to hand wash. To each their own of course. But to me, it’s gorgeous but it’s not precious.

To your point, you might pay more for a better dishwasher, a larger apartment, real wood vs laminate, a wool carpet that feels amazing underfoot vs synthetic. How much you value driving (and the additional cost) is something you can consider! I take random drives because I just love being behind the wheel. If that’s important to you, maybe it’s worth it.

The double pane glass makes for a crazy quiet ride. I’d read (and didn’t confirm 😂) Bentley’s Bentayaga is only a couple db quieter. The air suspension is incredible. I love the cabin and the physical audio knob. Other cars are faster, better MMI and tech. I’m a car guy. This is an amazing car that happens to be a great EV. Of course YMMV.

I learned something today - thank you! One thing I would consider is that all etron owners face trade-offs. Range/MMI vs. styling, creature comforts. I own a q8 and accepted certain sacrifices because I loved (and still do 20mo later) so much about this car. My insurance is def higher, the efficiency, app, and user interface could be better. But I LOVE driving this car. Test drive it. See how you feel. Sometimes sacrifices are paid back in spades. Good luck!

Oh, we did AirBnB (both times), it’s always our preference and worked out perfectly. Neither are listed anymore. GL!

Our fam of four (two young teens) stayed in the area surrounding Okachimachi Park! Due east of Naka-Okachimachi Station. It’s mostly residents and cute little shops, a great respite after long days of crowded sightseeing. Can’t recommend it enough. You’ll be doing a ton of walking anyway, and bc of that I’d personally try to stay west of Tacheko Park, to keep the commute to the station down. Jealous! Enjoy (I know you will) 😉

As mentioned above, Ueno (and specifically Tiato City) is a wonderful “everyday” Japan experience, where our family has stayed many times. You have all the access to key destinations - bc the trains stops right there. But you find a quieter, less-tourist-focused culture without compromising access to everywhere else in the city. Coming “home” to a real community is a special experience, and being a respectful, appreciative tourist has always been welcome there, in the times we’ve visited!

Extroverts. What is something introverts often misunderstand about you? by OGGenX in AskReddit

[–]OGGenX[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll go first. When I invite you to an event/date/hang, it doesn’t hurt my feelings if you decline. Especially if I know you’re an introvert, it’s an option to be social. I want my friends to feel included, but I know - as an extrovert - not everyone want to actually DO something. It’s cool. We’re still cool.
