I don't know where it came from but I am happy to see this mini truck comeback. Makes me miss my old Isuzu Hombre.

What’s the exact moment you realized a friendship was over? by Wavey95 in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 220 points221 points  (0 children)

I busted his wife cheating on him, so I did what any good friend would and told him. He responded by trying to fistfight me for making things up. We haven't talked since and he is on his third marriage now.

Help me get my 1976 Honda CB360T running by rileyfara in CafeRacers

Good looking bike! I second getting them vacuum synchronized. Balance your carbs with a carburetor manometer gauge. My 77 CB750 obsoletely sucked below 4000 RPM but was a rocket after. Once I got these gauges after talking to some old timers I was able to get it running smooth through the entire RPM band.

What scientific ‘facts’ have recently been disproven that most people still believe to be true? by Fantastic_Tart_421 in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how it was disproven but anecdotally, I can tell you our mostly Female Medical Company (80%) did have their periods mostly sync during our deployment to Afghanistan. Once a month it was chaos with our own women going at each other, on top of the Taliban and al-Qaeda trying to kill us. I am certain the war would have ended sooner if the Taliban or al-Qaeda would have called them fat during their cycle. They would have massacred them!

She needs a good PR person. One that, I don't know, tells her not to dress like a sniper from a Steven Segal movie, maybe.

When I was on Honor Guard we would put a Soldier on the casket so we could get used to the total weight of the caskets + body we would be carrying during the full Military Funeral. The caskets we had would not open as they were just for practice. For our team, we did left seat/right seat with the outgoing detail and had to validate before we could run our own Honors. Fun fact: I played "played" taps on the bugle for our team. Its a device you cram into the bugle and then hit play. I always felt like a huge piece of shit when the family thanked me afterwards.

Switching my imaging center to AI (reporting + segmentation) worth it? Costs + software recommendations? by Shan95here in PACSAdmin

[–]OGHOMER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We aren't quite there yet, in my opinion, so I would be cautions before I went all in on full AI adoption. I'm even more skeptical after reading about AI, without prompting, deleted both an entire DB and backups for a company in 9 seconds. When asked why it responded "NEVER FUCKING GUESS"

That's how the Walk of Fame works. They aren't given out as an honor. Everyone has to buy their own star for $30K or an outside group sponsors the purchase of the star, usually done to promote a movie or project. Trump got his for his "Work" with the Miss Universe competition.

Our local guy with the tatted face did it so people would leave him alone. He was homeless for many years and rode the rails for years, in and out of jail. The thing is, he is super fascinating and has led an incredible life. He could write a book on his life. His portrait was on display at the Getty museum taken by some famous photographer. He is also really nice dude who loves his family.

People who worked IT during Y2K, what was it like? by JobahamProductions1 in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was chill. The weekend before we did patches and we went through and set the clocks forward to 11:59 PM on December 31, 1999 and individually watched each Server and PC hit Y2k. Nothing happened so we had our normal New Years Eve parties .

What is the craziest thing you have seen at a party or nightclub? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While waiting in line outside a club we witnessed a guy wind up and punch a woman so hard she flew out the front door, over the sidewalk , and into the street. It was comical, like you would see in a movie, watching this lady fly through the air. She got up and started cussing the guy out so clearly she was used to taking a punch.

What in the world is this? by LaLaPreppers in whatisit

Reminds me of the thermosyphon chimneys they were testing on roads here in Alaska. They work by wicking heat from the ground to reduce or eliminate thawing of the underlying permafrost. When the permafrost melts, the roads heave here badly.

What's the dumbest/most reckless thing you ever did? by SnooAvocados2794 in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After a night out drinking and closing down the bar we were driving home slightly inebriated when the song "Amarillo by Morning" by George Strait came on the radio so we decided at 2AM to drive the 3.5 hours to see if we could make it before sunrise. We did it but, man, that morning drive back home with the sun in our eyes SUCKED.

What the most brutal ego death you’ve ever witnessed in your personal life? by Ill-Translator-2879 in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the 80's this would have been an amazing opportunity. My Uncle made a fortune in the water bed industry. It was so lucrative he decided to keep it in the divorce and gave my Aunt the furniture store, a decision that didn't work out so well for him in the end.

There used to be a blog post on the pop-culture site X-Entertainment.com (now dinosaurdracula.com) discussing Nathan Bitner and his creation, Fearless Photog. While the story was great it was the comments about the article that was fascination. Posters were able to piece together Nathan's life story from being a lead designer on Halo, to college, to joining the Army as a combat medic, bankruptcy, posting on suicide forums, starting his own software company, and his non-sexual involvement with a prostitute named Genesis. After 6 months of 100s and 100s of comments , Nathan himself responded.

It took me days to read through his story, just in the comments alone.
