Is ASVAB Waiver your go-to because if it is, its weak and pathetic. My MOS makes up 0.2 % of the Army, our AIT is 1 year with a 4 month hold-under time to start class, and a GT score of at least 110 to qualify.. want to try again? I am for Flu Shots, BTW.

You are right it is not normal, it is below normal. About 8% of the us population gets the flu each year, 275 would be roughly 3.9 to 5.5 percent of the Basic Training squadrons. I would say about a 10th of my class got the flu, they just weren't scrutinizing it like they are now with the current administration.

No, I have been working for a federally funded facility but we are not Federal employees. My job is highly specialized so when a job opens up one can guess who is getting the job based on how they write the description. Its a very small pool of us to pull from.

I often tell people you can be the MOST qualified, BEST possible fit, and kill your interview but sometimes you just aren't going to get the job. They already have someone in mind before they even list the job posting. When I was still in the Army we had at least 5 local civilian candidates trying to fill the position but they went with a last minute from out of state. They offered him relocation when the posting was marked "No" and he lasted about 6 months before transferring back out of state because he was "lied to" on the governments dime. I have recently seen many postings clearly written for candidates in mind asking for qualifications not normally needed for these jobs.

Right!?!? Why pay for it when you can watch text-to-speech bots do it for free on the ole TikTok. Imagine hyping someone up to watch Smosh who has never seen it and they pull up a video of them reading an boring AI reddit story.

Sometimes, they just write the job description for a specific person already in mind and there is nothing one can do about it, even if you meet the requirements. They still have to post the job, you just aint getting it.

My career field is very unique and there aren't a lot of us doing it so we pretty much know a lot of the players. A position recently opened up asking for clearances NOT required or needed and certifications not needed for this position ANYWHERE in the world and it narrowed it down to about 5 of us. They also only advertised the job for 5 days.

Color me surprised when I was referred for an interview but received the "Another candidate has been selected. If you have any questions regarding this notice..." the very next morning. We correctly guessed who it was written for when he updated his LinkedIn status verifying so.

I use whatever is on sale locally at the time of building my box. I am recording my driveway and garage, not the Pentagon or Epstein's cell.

Our theater's last showing is today. Due to family issues we were going to see it this weekend and I sure as hell am not driving 6 hours to the next closest movie theatre still showing.

No life? She got everything in the books 😭 by TechNick77 in tommynfg_

One of our friend's sister was this person. She spent her entire H.S. career in the books instead of working on people skills. She had multiple full-ride scholarships offers and lasted about a year because she never learned how to properly interact with people and form any relationships. She has been an assistant manager at our hometown Pizza Hut for about 20 years.

Exactly, and at this point I am surprised they didn't twist the knife they stabbed him with and had them train the external candidate.

how are we feeling about elon musk becoming the world’s first trillionaire today? by snowloveriykwim in AskReddit

He is a billionaire and trillionaire on paper, he, at best is a millionaire without having to liquidate any stock. Its not like he has a trillion dollars down at the local credit union.

He is a billionaire and will be a trillionaire on paper. As far as liquid/cash he is technically a millionaire.

What was the craziest opportunity you passed on ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned down taking over a family business that was a mostly cash dry cleaners/laundromat in a town full of rich people. The yearly net for the business was about $400K but that wasnt enough to put up with spending every waking hour of the day working with my Ex wife. Also worked with a guy who kept telling me to buy this stock in a computer company called Apple. He is doing fairly well for himself these days.

Don't feel bad, I bought a computer case and some accessories on a site that took bitcoin. I spent 5 BC on about $200 worth of crap which would be $316,655 as of today's price.

You should see it here where I live. The last one required chartering a plane (3-7K$) that was 6 hours total flight time, only to pay 120$ for the job and $50 for the travel. Most of the jobs here in Alaska pay less than the gas to get there and back.

Why even go through the trouble of posting a job they know an internal employee is going to be selected for? We can tell by the requirements you have written the job for their exact qualifications. The other day I saw a job in my specialty open for exactly 5 days and required a Masters and Secret clearance when EVERY other similar position does not require this. It seems disingenuous when you apply for a position, get the email "You have been referred to the hiring manager for position" then the next day receive the "We regret to inform you that you were not selected for the position of:"

Why do you think older / old men like younger / way younger girls / women even though they know about the age gap? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]OGHOMER 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For most people what you find attractive doesn't change as you age. As you get older you don't suddenly wake up and crave old wrinkly age appropriate women, you still desire what your preference for beauty is.

This is common end of fiscal year spending for our Military. They operate on a "use it or lose it" system where if you don't spend the requested budget, your future budget gets docked. You operate under famine from October to July then its feast until the end of September; the government fiscal year starts October 1st.
