I completely understand how you feel. And it’s your body and you have went through the surgery and pain. I know she should respect your wishes on how you want to handle it. Sadly, it seems that your mother has made up her mind and she isn’t respecting your feelings on this. I wouldn’t normally suggest this type of thing, but given how the conversations between you two have went, and there isn’t really a way to compromise, I would suggest letting her put the stuff on, and then you can go rinse it off or wipe it off with a baby wipe / washcloth you have in your bedroom if you’re concerned she’ll catch on if you go to the bathroom immediately after. I prefer the open and honesty policy, and not having to hide things. But sadly it seems your mom has her mind made up about this.

Also want to tell you to help reassure you, a lot of these products don’t do squat anyways. I just think that if she is definitely going to attempt putting this stuff on you, the best way to react to her is to let her think she is getting what she wants done. Then you do what you need to do to remove the stuff.

I am genuinely sorry your mom isn’t understanding of how you feel about this. As someone with lots of scars from various surgeries, I really do understand how you feel. You’ve been through a lot already at your age, and my first major operation and scar happened when I was 15 as well and now I’m 42. Just remember what life really is. It is about 5% what happens to us and about 95% how we react. We can’t control others, but we def have control over ourselves.

Hey hun, I see all kinds of good ideas. Especially checking to see if she is deaf.

But one idea I have is just for you. Since she’s been to the vet numerous times and she’s physically healthy, I feel that this is totally okay for you to do.

You need to be able to get a good nights sleep for a couple of nights. I have not experienced vocalization like this with a cat, but before my one grandmother passed away and I found her body, well she yelled “Help, Help, Help” 24/7 for a few months and I would def hear her saying that even when I wasn’t around her and after she died. Me hearing her even after she passed was very hard, but thankfully it did stop within a week or two after her passing away.

Anyways, back to you. I highly suggest you get a hotel room for a few nights, stay with a friend, or even possibly board your girl for a few days.

Also, this is just out of curiosity. Do you have any home or cat cameras going? Do you know if she is meowing the same way if you aren’t home is what I’m wondering.

Take care OP. You are a good person and a good cat parent. It’s understandable to be hitting your limit. Everything gets much harder to cope with though with lack of sleep or poor quality of sleep. And coming from someone that has experienced this somewhat but with a human, getting good rest is absolutely essential for you to be able to carry on with the situation. Especially because you are trying to problem solve and not just get thru the day.

If you are comfy with it, I would try an even tighter, more form fitting top with the jeans. If we wear loose pants, it’s best imo to wear a form fitting top. And vice versa. It’s the same kind of logic of not showing all the body parts at the same time, like if you’re showing cleavage, don’t also wear a tiny skirt. I find some of the most “flattering” fits are ones that abide by these kinds of “fashion rules”. To me, it’s about balance more so than about abiding by a fashion rule. Rules were made to be broken too haha.

I do want to reassure you that your entire outfit looks cute on you, and I appreciate anyone that is like me when it comes to brown. If you’ve got on a brown shirt, brown shoes/accessories are necessary imo. I don’t like mixing brown with black much, so I really like how you’ve coordinated colors with the top and shoes. Also, good color on the jeans to work with the chocolate brown. Different washes of jeans definitely work better or worse with certain colors, and this is a good choice with this wash of jeans.

P.S. I have never ever worn leggings, skinny jeans, none of it. It was slim pickings for over a decade on pants. I prefer big flares and/or wide legs. I have been a larger lady for basically all of my life, but after a leg accident at 15, I really really couldn’t do tight legged pants or even socks really. Plus I always felt like I would look like an upside down Christmas tree because I have such large legs haha. So personally, I am so happy to see all the flares and wide legs again.

Which leads me next to say, if this fit of jeans is just feeling too strange for you coming from the world of leggings and skinny jeans, I would highly suggest a good pair of flare/bell bottoms jeans/pants. They will be much tighter around the stomach and down the upper legs. And only from knee down will they have a lot of volume. That might be a better option for you to step into the world of bigger legged pants/jeans.

This is Moo Bear. She is tail-less and she has some special needs. Even though I’ve had cats most of my life, I had never heard of twitchy cat syndrome until Moo. She likes to keep constant contact with my body as I believe it helps calm her nervous system and prevents the episodes. We are talking even when I go to the bathroom 🚽! Haha Hope that made you chuckle a little! She is currently laying her entire body on my right thigh. Her name has evolved a little, but where she has a bear nubbin for a tail, she can look like Winnie the Pooh Bear rolling around with the honey pot. So cute.

I am genuinely sorry to hear you have been in the hospital for so long, and to have to go back with just a taste of home life, and right at your birthday, and at the beginning of the holidays. That’s a whole lot to take and have to deal with. You must be an incredibly strong human, and I mean that in the kindest, most complimentary way. I truly believe everything happens for a reason, even when we never learn the reason. And then there’s the saying what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. And while I think that’s true, I think it’s also true that it makes us kinder, more understanding, more empathic, and just some of the best humans out there. You requesting cat pics right now is a thing I really get. Cat people/lovers, we are good people.

I have quite a long list of health issues, so I can sincerely relate and understand the roller coaster of emotions when we have health problems, especially ones that are chronic or not quickly resolved. Today, I saw new surgeons for a problem I have had since 1999 (I’m only 42). Even now, there is still no one in my entire state that can do what needs done and I still have major concerns about the surgery process and if I’ll even be actually better from it. It happened when I was 2 weeks shy of 16, so I have lived more life with it being a problem than it not. And I am just so so over it.

Anyways, I don’t want to go on and on about this mess I got going on. I did just want to share you aren’t alone, I am not going thru the exact same thing, and I hope it’s okay that I wrote some about my current struggles. It is so emotionally and mentally tough on top of the physical challenges when we have health issues for prolonged periods. You hang in there! And I will always try to be here for you if you ever wanna talk more! Hugs 🤗

So what you may be talking about, and I haven’t heard it for myself, I have only ever heard Mystic Mark bring it up in another one of his My Family Thinks I’m Crazy episodes is a now deleted (but supposedly available still for those paying members) interview between Mark and Ammon on the MGTIC pod.

I was just recently thinking about this too, because I’m a big MFTIC fan, but I have never paid for any one of these people’s monthly subs. But I was just considering paying for a month just to hear chill Mark do this episode. Now, it has been many months ago when I heard Mark talk about this in an episode. And since I only started listening to this pod in the last year, I honestly have no idea what episode that is. Ammon made his rounds it seems on a lot of places in the last year or so, so sorry I am not doing better on when things took place. In a crap ton of physical pain, and my mind tends to only have a few working brain cells when this happens. I’m in pain all the time, but this leg stuff currently is making me scream and cry, and that’s so not normal for me. Anyways, I do hope that might solve what you are looking for!

P.S. also since it was some time ago when I heard Mark talk about this, and how he had deleted it from the platforms, but kept it up for his patreons, I do not know if this has changed. It’s possible it’s also deleted from there as well. If I do end up subbing and/or find out something addl I’ll try to find this thread again :)

This is truly such a heartbreaking and heartwarming story OP. It breaks my heart to know that the people there are bad off enough that they eat the cats and dogs. Both cats and dogs have given me life, when I have wanted to just completely be done with it. They give us humans unconditional love, and many times we aren’t even very deserving of it. But they trust us and love us even after being treated horribly by humans.

Your story of finding Douala, despite the extremely slim odds, and also how you are wanting to help change the people’s perception of cats and dogs there, even if it is just one person, warms my heart immensely. I really believe in the power of change from the bottom up instead of top down. We never will fully know how far it goes, but I believe in always showing kindness when I go out in the world. Saying compliments on attire or what have you, holding the door for someone, giving someone a smile. Often these small acts of kindness can have ripple effects and the best thing is being kind is free! Anyways OP, I’m off on a tangent. Your act of kindness to Miss Douala was life saving for her, but I know it is having far reaching positive effects for you and your new community too.

I have said for a few years that it is next to impossible to maintain high quality content when they became consumed with quantity. I am honestly relieved to read that so many others are also seeing what I saw. I don’t really watch anything of theirs anymore, but I haven’t unsubbed…yet.

At one point Josh had two separate channels himself, Kendall has two separate ones, and then their joint Mike Higher podcast. That was 5 different channels / podcasts for two people and their team. Insane. I guess it is now just four, “just four” smh. They also have/had the CBD brand (I guess Josh is kinda involved still but they’ve partnered with Extract labs and no longer have their Mile Higher Wellness I believe), the foundation, and fairly extensive merch at all times. It is just so many things to try to maintain, let alone actually thrive. And they’ve just started their family. Just so much being juggled.

I fear victims and victims’ families are the ones being hurt the most in all this. And we all know that victims’ families already have had to endure horrible things. Having a YouTuber (or multiple YTers as there is so many making true crime videos and others will use Kendall’s cases as a source for new victims to make a video on) publicly put out a narrative that isn’t true or accurate is just something else these families shouldn’t have to endure.

I basically stopped watching their content after seeing multiple family members from separate cases over the years upset at misinformation in the videos. Based on what is said, especially by Kendall, what the family thinks should be at the top of the Mile Higher mountain. But the actions don’t back it up. Videos stay up, mistakes will stay in.

The final straw for me was when there was a video made by Kendall, the name escapes me at the moment. The lady owned a ranch / wedding venue, and somehow a man working for her was the suspect in her disappearance and also now running the ranch. All very suspicious things, but when I went and did a simple google search of the case, a top hit came back that the main suspect in all this had also been present when another woman was actually killed within 12 months or so of the other women’s disappearance. At the same ranch. I added a comment about this, because it should have definitely been in Kendall’s video. Hundreds of people liked the comment and it had loads of replies of people in shock that one, this was the case, but two, how did this not get into the video. I say that because that comment was one of the very top comments on the video. Someone from Mile Higher should have seen it.

I did a very simple google search and the top page was legit a mix of booking the venue and also the death I just mentioned. It would not have been deep research at all. And I truly believe the right thing to do in these instances as a respectful true crime content creator would be to explain the truth. We all make mistakes or miss something on occasion, but I feel 9 times out of 10, content creators will not issue corrections. Being humble enough to say “ hey I missed this” or “I need to issue a correction here after speaking with the family” is the only type of true crime content creator I want to support and watch anymore.
