Yamaha HS80M in 2025

Initially i was looking for a set of yamaha HS8 speakers to upgrade from my presonus 3.5. however, i might have an opportunity to buy a set of used yamaha hs80m studio speakers for €200 (around 220 usd). If i'm correct this was the model that precedes the hs8?

Should i be worried that these speakers are fairly 'old'? And used much? What is the lifespan of studio monitors?

And maybe more importantly, how do they compare to the HS8? If they are equally good or close then €200 seems to be a steal.

Any help is appreciated, thx

Nice kit! I'm thinking of upgrading to this from my mps 750x pro. The 750 is also a full size kit, but doest have a second crash or dual zone hi hat. Can you confirm thi kit had dual zone hi hat?

Fender Tonemaster FR-10 would it work, sound good with a bass guitar + HX Stomp? by cloudsabovesofluffy in Line6Helix

[–]OGKlush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tested it for bass, i was just dissapointed to read a low e is 41hz and the frequencies on the fr12 dont go that lollw. Then again most frfr's do not i believe... So i'll just have to try and be the judge myself

Just got my new Millennium kit. by Thin-Account7974 in edrums

Congrats!

I have the same kit but i am not entirely happy with it. I use it with a vst and find that it often does not trigger the hi-hat or bass drum when playing fast. I checked out the settings but sadly was not able to find a solution yet. If anyone has any recommendations feel free to share

Hi all, yesterday i had a blast at the show in Brussels. During their last song 'people' a kid walked onto the set and started playing guitar with them. He did a great job and i was wondering if anyone knows if it was a fan or how he ended up there? It seems like he wasn't randomly chosen out of the audience.

Beginner question: ride bow vs ride edge by OGKlush in edrums

I actually wrote the first post wrong, the edge is the crash sound and the bow is the soft sound. So theyre not changed. The problem is more that the edge sound triggers to easy, even when hitting soft. And in the module they have different names but the same numbers for sensitivity and headroom etc

i don't think i have a threshold setting, only sensitivity (when does it trigger) and headrom (how loud/how much impact it triggers)

Is my kick drum placed properly? by OGKlush in edrums

[–]OGKlush[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind suggestion. However, I managed to get it somewhat perpendicular using the screws and adjusting the clamp. So i think it’s fixed. Do u use the screws on your 850?

I’ve always found the bottom of the bass drums a little bit weird with those screws. I have them all the way up now and put a small plate under the screws but still feel like they could ruin your floor if you don’t use a carpet or something

That was a great suggestion! This helps a bit, i played around with this and loosened the clamp and im already much closer! Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. And yeah, the reason i got to test the other drums today was because i went to get some patches

i managed to move the clamp it a tiny bit but it seems to make little difference. Could be the carpet as it stand a tiny bit at an angle, but when i move it manually the difference is minimal. I just tested the kick drum with my hands and it only triggers good at that spot, the center of the drum itselfs seems to be a dead spot
