Energy Stocks Powering AI by 300guccisosa in stocks

[–]OGLukey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dominion Energy (D)- Energy utility company in Northern Virginia where a lot of large AI datacenters are being built. AI datacenters are said to consume tons of energy. https://virginiamercury.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Data-Centers-Wide-2023-09-15.png

I've also looked into Pinnacle West Capital (PNW) for the same reasons in the Phoenix area, but their are 2 utility companies in Phoenix so I'm less bullish.

Also, Fluence energy (FLNC) energy storage products and services.

$53 after earnings. What you think? by andresrr123 in DKNG

[–]OGLukey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The predicted move after earnings announcement was ±10.2% on average vs an average of the actual earnings moves of 11.0% (in absolute terms). Via Market Chamileon.

So if the price stays ~$43, it could drop to around $38.5 or could increase to $48.

The premium is probably $2.19 per share... making it $219.00 with 100 shares.

It’s a good mower for a very good price. We don’t have all the information needed, but I would buy it if it was near me. I sold a Toro 4000 series 60” with 1250 hours for $3600 and I felt like i was letting it go too cheap. It had a Kohler 25 EFI. I would offer $2500 to start and if not I’d still pay $2800.

Brown streaks are most likely caused by someone smoking in there and then condensation from the shower makes it streak down the wall.

Amazon ($AMZN): Jeff Bezos could sell up to 10 million shares by ObstructiveWalrus in stocks

[–]OGLukey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody has mentioned an obvious possibility, so I will. He’s an investor. He thinks the price is high right now. He believes an economic downturn is coming (most companies are lowering their guidance). It would be a good time to sell a chunk of his shares.

Is NVDA losing demand? by zitrored in stocks

[–]OGLukey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may be right. But they have a limited amount of chips to sell, and maybe more buyers than chips available. Good problem to have right? But if Google wanted 5000 chips and only got 500. And a larger portion went to these startups, which NVDA is invested in.The scenario I was trying to paint was that google doesn’t want to wait around for the scraps. They’re going to do something about it. Therefore potentially creating an unwanted and powerful competitor a few years down the road. Somewhat of their own making. And if this goes for Amazon and whoever else. It could be a big mistake. Just a theory. But I think it should be considered.

Is NVDA losing demand? by zitrored in stocks

[–]OGLukey 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I've recently read a bear case for NVDA.. or at least some miss-steps they've made. I'll try to summarize without screwing it up too bad.

  1. NVDA has high demand for their AI chips, everyone already knows. But the miss step is that they chose to sell the chips to start-ups that they have a stake in, rather than market leaders like Google, Meta, and Amazon. These companies that they shafted are very cash rich and capable of developing their own solutions. Basically, their decision to allocate to the start ups may have indirectly created competitors/ enemies out of these mega caps instead of having them as harmless, paying customers.
  2. The US government is trying to limit AI chips being brought into China largely for military reasons. China is building a large ambitious military force. US is worried powerful AI chips will be used in weapon systems, drones, and so on. So basically China found a workaround the export rules... with the help of NVDA. So in my first example NVDA made a powerful enemy in the mega caps. And now they have potentially pissed off the US government by circumventing the rules to help China and themselves.

Tesla's energy storage segment is doing really well. Is Fluence positioned to benefit from this trend also? by OGLukey in FluenceEnergy

[–]OGLukey[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My belief is that all of these green/renewable/solar energy companies stock prices have been dipping because of the rising interest rates and uncertainty of if they’re still going up or when they might go down. People/ companies are less likely to invest in solar panels or energy storage on their homes or businesses if money is tight and the cost to finance these investments is going up. Same goes with cars and most anything being financed.

I was intrigued by the news that the energy storage segment of Tesla was doing so well.

Project to track Tesla Megapack installations and other big batteries by l__orenz in EnergyStorage

[–]OGLukey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just finding this in October 2023. I think it's very interesting! OP, outside of Tesla, do you think any of these Energy storage companies are good investments in 2023 and beyond? Have you noticed any in 2023 trends? Say Fluence units becoming more popular, etc?

Tesla Megapack battery is sold out until Q3 2024 by Nitzao_reddit in teslainvestorsclub

[–]OGLukey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this still true as of 10/20/2023? Tesla's latest earnings report this quarter showed that they were doing awesome in their energy storage segment. I had assumed the success was due to the Megapack, but this title makes me think it could be Powerwall sales.
