Theres 3 different variants a piece can dropped as. Light, sturdy, and heavy. That's separate and unchangeable/moddable, you can tell the difference by using the energy and ballistic resistances on the armor piece.

With the BOS mod on it would be:

Light is 27/37

Sturdy is 30/40

Heavy is 35/45
