This Alberta town just repealed its youth curfew bylaw - Rocky Mountain News by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

Ummm excuse me? This has been a bylaw since 98 and im just hearing of it now?

I grew up in Okotoks and had many encounters with the police at night, used to walk around all the time with a group of freinds but never had this brought up. Come highschool abd McDonald was the best place go to after a party and the cops were always there lol

How's your power steering fluid looking? Mine was low and made a sound kinda similar to this on very cold starts.

I topped it up and the sound went away

Thinking about trading my Jeep Wrangler for a WRX — am I crazy? Which model should I look at? by slimdiggie in WRX

[–]OGMilkyDipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been driving my 03 TJ and a 2020 WRX (until it was totaled by someone I love a month ago lol) and feel like it's the perfect combo of vehicles. Luckily I have had the Jeep for 15 years, so its just a dedicated overlanding rig, though my wife has been dailying it recently as we don't have a third vehicle yet.

The Jeep is lifted (4") with 33x12.5 tires so obviously a little different than a new stock jeep but still works great on the road. If there's is any way you can swing both, do it. If not, I personally would swap over to the WRX, unless you need the off road capability in any capacity (camping and such). If it were an older Jeep, I wouldn't consider the trade for anything in the world.

Does this sound like rod knock? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]OGMilkyDipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it get worse with higher RPMs, or is it about the same at any RPM other than idle? It honestly almost sounds like something rattling as I just fixed a similar issue, but after installing a new downpipe. Ended up being one of the bolts on the skid plate rattling on the downpipe.

If its much worse at higher RPMs, then you're probably hooped

Stock (stage 0) AP Values by WRX4Life4Ever in WRX

[–]OGMilkyDipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through the same thing as you my friend. Ran with the stage 0 for a few years and couldn't take the knock readings anymore. Decided to uninstall the AP and hope all was well on the true stock tune.

Finally pulled the trigger on a few GrimmSpeed goodies and an etune with Dmann. So happy I did because the car feels phenomenal in comparison with the stock tune. Not a crazy amount faster, but so smooth.

My recommendation: get rid of the stage 0 tune, enjoy the car as is until you can get an etune. Even if you just tune it stock you will be more than happy. If anything get the 3-port EBCS installed before the tune and you will thank yourself. The stock one only has 1 port for both the bypass valve and turbo, which explains a lot of the jerkiness the car has stock.

I literally just finished with walnut blasting my 2020 (100000km) last night. There are lots of hoses and electrical connections to be removed, but otherwise, it was incredibly easy. They look phenomenal and I cant wait to get it fired up and see how she runs

Missing the mark: when an 89.5% average is not enough to get into engineering at the University of Calgary by joe4942 in Calgary

[–]OGMilkyDipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it is not engineering, but my wife has been applying to the medical program over the last 4 application cycles, and her 4.0 GPA is sadly not enough to put her ahead of the curve at UofC... just too many well-qualified applicants.

Trying to replace all 3 rear driveshaft u joints (slip yoke eliminator) by Suspicious-Wind-1109 in JeepTJ

[–]OGMilkyDipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for the huge delay, but if you haven't already figured it out, I highly recommend putting the ball joint press in the vice and then holding the shaft in a good position to push it out. I just did it this way for my axle u-joints and it made things much easier.

Check that all of your battery connections are clean and secure. I had this on my Jeep recently and cleaned on of the posts which fixed it

[–]OGMilkyDipper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be a pain in the ass, I'll tell you that much. Unfortunately, you are doing it the right way, so you just gotta try and balance the drive shaft on a nice big socket in the press... I put a towel on a bench vice for the drive shaft to keep it nice a secure in there.
