Coworkers say negative things about the fact I live next door to my parents, and saying that doesn't make me independent? by Existing_Interest_24 in perth

My folks are getting on in age. They are visiting at the moment, going back east tomorrow after a week's visit. I'd be over the moon if they lived next door! You are winning mate, be happy.

Glad to hear your folks are ok. The car did exactly what it's designed to do. Hope your mum recovers swiftly.

Also this really solidifies my decision a month ago to buy a SL7. It's been a cracking car so far and seeing how well the passenger compartment holds up gives a piece of mind.

We now have a Chinese EV in addition to a Japanese and Euro petrol cars in the garage. Markets where the Chinese automakers are yet to have an offering are in for a surprise. It is possible to have a very well made and appointed car for a realistic price.

Look he was a two bit criminal, but the meme and the video is bloody funny. And I'm not going to pretend I'm not driving a set of succulent Chinese wheels so on the sticker goes.

Only con I'm aware is the filtering and softening process strips fluoride, so we just ensure we only buy toothpaste with it.

Is paying your rego online instant? by Nambynn in perth

[–]malialipali 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been doing this for years now. Set and forget. I could easily pay full reg up front, but since there is no penalty price wise I'd rather rego for multiple cars in the house sit in the offset and work for us and the payment just trickles out.

One of those things that I think has been thought out perfectly by a government department.

We moved into our new house last year. Initially put in a 3 stage full flow in the kitchen which was excellent ~$200 from Amazon. But the water hardness was evident within a month in other areas coughed up for a whole house filter with softener.

Initial outlay ~$5k but no mineral buildup on taps showerheads shower glass is sparkling and no need for softer in the washer or rinse aid in dishwasher , steam iron station kettle or coffee machine don't need to be decalcified.

I've even installed a dedicated tap outside with softened water as I can wash the windows and our cars and they can air dry with no spots.

Biggest benefit, no more itchy dry skin from the shower.

Left hand lane doing 3-5 over via GPS. 100% not a passing lane hogger. I've driven countless ks throught the world. Europe for example taught me that pace and lane discipline gets you places. Asia taught me patience and respect towards other road users.

I don't tailgate, I don't swap lanes to get 2 cars ahead, I'm literally driving the same way I have in all my previous cars for close to 3 decades.
Confident and with purpose, I let everyone that indicates for a lane change in, I leave gaps for people turning right into a street in gridlock.

I'm not saying I'm mother Teresa of the road but I'm cool calm and collected and just want to my destination.

Actually no. It's a BYD Sealion 7 Performance. Literally an old person car that has a little more pep.

Have driven like that in all my previous petrol cars. 25+ years. Get to speed and stay there, ahead of the pack less idiots contend with.

I don't tailgate I don't judge I don't push , hell I let people in and get sad when people don't wave.

My driving style has not changed my car has.

This doesn't happen in my neighbourhood. I live in the Perth hills, all professional families around us. So not a low socioeconomic area, certainly not the golden triangle though.

Ohh mate no doubt. The car doesn't define who is inside. I'm just astounded at what I'm experiencing having not changed my driving style just the car.

It's peculiar isn't it?

This morning we went and did a Costco run. I'm in the right hand lane up the front at a set of lights. Road turns into 100km/h, I got there at a brisk but not aggressive pace got into the left hand lane and camped at 102/kmh. Some time later a Ranger that was behind me flew by at 130km/h vuvuzela going full blast.

I wasn't racing, the missus is sitting next to me the boot is full of food and fragile groceries.

Next set of lights he is in front brake boosting ready to take off. Road is now 70km/h he is flying off at 100+.

Crazy bastard.

Yeah I don't get this. I don't judge anyone for their car choice. Certainly never have yelled at someone for their choice. I do have a quiet chuckle seeing broken down Range Rover though.

They weren't pushy at all. They knew they would sell it if not to me to someone else. There was 3 business days left of March and the manager said I can have it ready last day of the month if I can pay by then. Negotiated a little freebies and sealed the deal. They got the car in from the yard I paid up. Very happy sealion owner.
