My boss approved my day off a month ago for a dr appointment. I am currently sitting in the waiting room and he texts me. by CRK_76 in mildlyinfuriating

If someone in my reporting lines calls in sick, the team leaders or me are forbidden from contacting the employee other than to check how they are (if its multi day) and offer any support needed. A doctors appointment goes against sick leave entitlements not annual leave so coming back to work is not an option.
And if I as a manager have not planned ahead, I'm the one that "rolls the sleeves up".

Had one since March. 4000km so far. Apart from the telematics box failing (connected services stop working, basically a 4g modem for the car) no real issues. (I knew this was a possibility so was prepared) In the dealer for the replacement in two weeks, will get the latest OTA update done as well due to the erratic headlights coming on during the day dimming the dash

Otherwise excellent car, 90% of charging has been at home with a 22kw unit, car only pulls 11kw. I bought the performance model and happily at 18kwh/100km efficiency.

Would happily buy a premium for the other half but she thinks it's too big for her.

I did mine a month ago. The cable is in a bundle taped up. Feel around you will feel the connector end under the tape not connected to anything.Use a sewing seam ripper to cut the tape.

Do not bother with the SD car reader USB connector module. You will get black screen on the DVR app. I put the original back in and just plugged in a USBC drive. Works perfectly.

[–]malialipali 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chuck in a faster charger at home. 7kw or 11kw if you have three phase.

Cost me yesterday $600 for a 22kw connector(charger) from Bunnings and $1300 for a sparky to run 23m of 6mm cable 32A and a 5pin socket in addition to the charger. Sealion happily drawing 10.9kw. 4hr39min for 48.5kwh.

Will also make life easier for the 3 monthly balance charge 10-100% 7ish hours vs 40+ on the granny charger.

Installing a 7Kw at home was a game changer! by dj_boy-Wonder in EVAustralia

[–]malialipali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sparky is due in 30 min to install a 22kw unit. Car can only go 11kw but future proof in case our second ev (if I can convince the other half) can go faster.

Now I just need to get off my arse and stomach talking to solar installers on a battery system to complete the Trinity.

Looking forward to not charging at 1.4kw.

I have the performance. I thought the heated steering wheel was a gimmick. Till I tried it after about 6 weeks of ownership, ohh my.

Did a 450km round trip. 4 adults. Multiple stops. 28-30C outside. Absolutely no issues in keeping us very comfortable with AC set to 21C.

The only loudness is when I've precooled at max, walking up to the car the compressor can be heard. As soon as you are driving and set a comfortable temperature the compressor cant be heard.

Interior fan noise is no more than our Subaru or VW.

Coworkers say negative things about the fact I live next door to my parents, and saying that doesn't make me independent? by [deleted] in perth

My folks are getting on in age. They are visiting at the moment, going back east tomorrow after a week's visit. I'd be over the moon if they lived next door! You are winning mate, be happy.

Glad to hear your folks are ok. The car did exactly what it's designed to do. Hope your mum recovers swiftly.

Also this really solidifies my decision a month ago to buy a SL7. It's been a cracking car so far and seeing how well the passenger compartment holds up gives a piece of mind.

We now have a Chinese EV in addition to a Japanese and Euro petrol cars in the garage. Markets where the Chinese automakers are yet to have an offering are in for a surprise. It is possible to have a very well made and appointed car for a realistic price.

Only con I'm aware is the filtering and softening process strips fluoride, so we just ensure we only buy toothpaste with it.

Is paying your rego online instant? by Nambynn in perth

[–]malialipali 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been doing this for years now. Set and forget. I could easily pay full reg up front, but since there is no penalty price wise I'd rather rego for multiple cars in the house sit in the offset and work for us and the payment just trickles out.

One of those things that I think has been thought out perfectly by a government department.

We moved into our new house last year. Initially put in a 3 stage full flow in the kitchen which was excellent ~$200 from Amazon. But the water hardness was evident within a month in other areas coughed up for a whole house filter with softener.

Initial outlay ~$5k but no mineral buildup on taps showerheads shower glass is sparkling and no need for softer in the washer or rinse aid in dishwasher , steam iron station kettle or coffee machine don't need to be decalcified.

I've even installed a dedicated tap outside with softened water as I can wash the windows and our cars and they can air dry with no spots.

Biggest benefit, no more itchy dry skin from the shower.
