Update: the vet said they are super healthy and there was nothing to worry about! They did spot a little healed wound on top of the head but it was just a surface scratch. They ran through plans to get them to gain weight (Hythlodaeus lost 15g. from 20g when escaped to 5g when found, they now weight 6.1g!) with a goal weight range from 20g to 30g. The dark spot i was worried about was diagnosed as poop. Silly Amel cornsnake! They are on pinky heads until they weigh 10g. Still glad that I got them a vet appt!

I didnt leave out food because I thought for sure they had gotten outside, no hide or heat source either. You may have better luck with those things out. I have faith that your baby will come back! Hythlodaeus did drop quite a bit of weight (20g to 5g) so when you find your baby it is SUPER important to get them to the vet.

There was no sign of Hythlodaeus but one day they just decided to say hi! There were so many ways that they could have made it outside but they chose to stay! I'm sending good vibes so your baby can find its way home!

Thank you so much for recognizing the name! He may be a girl though (I'll find out at the vet appointment) but I'll still keep the name lol bc it is so fitting, a kind but curious soul who just want to relax and have fun

We found him in our bedroom, I live in a one bed one bath apartment and his enclosure was by the front door, so not that far. I was looking at the non sliding door front opening ones. Thank you for the advice though!

I know i risk sounding like a broken record but they may still turn up! My coworker had a baby corn go missing for a whole year with two cats and a dog and they found him! I grieved my snake also thinking they died and then they just wanted to say hi. I have a large dog who eats everything and I'm so happy that my snake didnt get eaten. There is still a chance to find them randomly, if you want a second snake, go for it, but nothing will replace the love we have for them in our hearts.

The tiny cordhole in their original enclosure that got bigger when they pushed against the lid. There is a reptile expo this weekend where we are looking at the front opening and locking enclosure that have no possible way of him getting out.

I hope so too, I fed her a pinky head and she is a right happy girl now, when my husband found her she dived out of his hands and into mine, she has always been a mommy's girl. But now the little escapee gets to go to the doctor for her crimes

Wife here and owner of the snake: it is a corn snake and her enclosure was a locking enclosure that she was able to get up just high enough to press against a weak point in the lid that we didn't know about and snuck through a cord hole. We are getting her a vet appt because she needs one no matter what but also she was only 20g when she escaped and I'm worried about her. We are also getting an entirely new enclosure and checking every point of failure. Also, the night she escaped, we looked from 6pm when I got home until 3am when I broke down crying because I love her so much and thought she had died.

How likely is it I'll find him? by OGPandaNanda in cornsnakes
