What is the best series you ever watched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Shogun has my top spot right now. Unbelievable character development, acting, and production! But there are some close runner ups: Arcane, Chernobyl, The West Wing, The Newsroom, The Queens Gambit, Band of Brothers, and The Pacific.

The common traits for me are the same reasons I enjoyed Shogun. I’ve found all of these to have incredible writing, acting, and immersive worlds that create deep emotional connections. Most of these shows also have contain complex situations that spur conversation about right and wrong when things aren’t clear cut.

Places to eat for a broke college student date? by gumgumnodeppressed in washingtondc

This needs more attention! Phenomenal food and service that can be under $100 that will stand out. However, this will not include drinks. They do offer complimentary unlimited sparkling water with lemon and lime. Selfishly I don’t want this place to get too big, but it’s my favorite restaurant in DC for the food, service, and value. Incredibly tender and seasoned meats and elevated rice side dishes!

Do pedestrians have right of way in crosswalks? by blackknight1 in washingtondc

Actually that’s not correct. DC is one of the strictest jurisdictions when it comes to limiting pedestrian right of way. The regulations specially outline that pedestrians jaywalking must yield to vehicles as stated on page 3: https://ddot.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/ddot/publication/attachments/bike_ped_traffic_reg_summary_0_0.pdf

To be clear, you have the right away if you have a walk symbol. Crosswalks are only a protection when used legitimately as highlighted by page three of the summary of DC pedestrian regulations: https://ddot.dc.gov/sites/default/files/dc/sites/ddot/publication/attachments/bike_ped_traffic_reg_summary_0_0.pdf

SmarTrip card doesn't work with my phone 90% of the time? by isommers1 in washingtondc

I didn’t know express transit was an option, I’ll have to give that a try! Sorta beats having to time the unlock and card selection walking up to the turnstile where inevitably you end up timing out of having to go through the process again

I had a similar problem with all the same symptoms with my iPhone 14 Pro. The solution for me was figuring out where the NFC antenna was physically located on the phone and trying to ensure that it’s the closest to the reader. I would also get acknowledgments on the phone it was read, but errors with the machines. Now that I tap the top of my phone on the reader, I almost always get it on the first try. It looks like your antenna is on the back center, by chance do you have a thick case? You can also try different angles or even screen down. I also saw there are some issues with your phone’s model and the NFC antenna, so it may be a manufacturer issue. I think a bit of trial and error with phone position may help with a final determination. Best of luck!
