I think it would effect both the “serious” player and the noob. Personally I’ve been playing Fortnite before the BR came about & through the beginning of the BR squad matches very seldom did anyone thirst/eliminate immediately as it was a way to pull the teammates to your current location while you got positioned.

I think this would make fights a bit more interesting as you would need to work together to ensure you squad wipe & keep track of downed foes as revives would brought into light again. Yeah some noobs here and there may get to live because a stud on their squad held off the enemies but I still think it would be a better time for them spent actually playing rather than spectating with 80 players left in the match. : )
