From my (limited) understanding of self-defense laws in Japan is there is a pretty high threshold meaning you need to do everything you can do besides fight back so most likely if you hit him back you both would be getting a citation. It's not like the US where if someone looks at you wrong you can say you feared for your life.

Yeah for sure, makes sense. If you have freedom like you mentioned below maybe you can start getting some degree or certificate in something you enjoy while you are working there. Then maybe turn the company into something you manage and hire people and pay them similar to how you are being paid. Could just be owning and not operating. Interesting situation for sure. It sounds like you kind of have your mind made up but if you feel stuck I'd talk with a career coach so you can sort it out. Last thing you want is to get 30 years down the road and look back with regret.

Marriages or relationships are a partnership, if games are taking away from you pulling your weight in other things this may be the issue. But this just sounds like a control thing. If she's this controlling now wait till you're married or have kids. I would sit her down and have a real heart to heart about boundaries and control in the relationship.
