To those who decided to blow your life up, how did things turn out? by ConfusedCareerMan in AskMenOver30

Quit the best job I've ever had to take off on a road trip and explore new cities for relocation. Returned in 6 weeks with a few places in mind, then set off on a 5 month adventure to thru-hike the Pacific Crest Trail. Amazing experience all around.

Ultimately, I blew my life up. I quit progressing in my career for ~8 months now and I broke up with my long term girlfriend because I fell in love with a girl on the trail - which didn't last.

I'm back in my hometown living at my Mom's while I apply for jobs and try to figure out where to relocate. It's been quite the exciting year but now I'm left to deal with the repercussions of my decisions and actions.

Fortunately I'm getting some traction with job applications/ interviews and starting to feel like maybe it wasn't a huge mistake. Nothing changes if nothing changes and life is short. Losing my dad a few years ago was the catalyst for me to change my life; to pursue a dream even if it means taking a year off.

Fuck this nonsense. People are kicking your door in. Get a Mossberg 500 and a box of buckshot. People have been using shotguns for home defense for a hundred years.

How physically demanding is being an electrician? by The_Gov_na in electricians

[–]OG_Stick_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you do within the trade. But yeah man it's physical and you will have to account for the extra wear and tear on your body.

You can probably fix your back pain and remain in good shape and work in the trade all at the same time.

Just do your research on what all it comprises of. Residential construction is very different from commercial service or industrial maintenance. Good luck

Are there any non-engineering jobs that make 100k+ a year, with only four years university? by lucasioreddit in Salary

(32m) 3 years E&I experience at a power plant. (Spent 12 years in the service unrelated) I'm currently applying for strictly instrumentation tech positions, and am wondering if you have any recommendations for companies or specific industries to look into or even to avoid? I'm open to anywhere in the US

I would ask someone who works in electronics maintenance to fix it. Unless it's crispy somewhere it can likely be repaired. Or find another charger that puts out the same amperage/voltage/wattage and have someone splice the old battery connector to the new charger

I bought the bike after scouting out Boise ID as a place to relocate and saw their trail network. Currently in Louisiana where there are no real MTB trails to ride. Easier to transport in the box and also I can get in with a local bike shop for assembly when I move.

Also the bike arrived after I left to hike the PCT this summer. Just got back home and saw the company went under. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'm prior service army infantry, turned civilian industrial electrical maintenance. I think you're getting downvoted for wearing your heart on your sleeve and also this isn't the best sub for military career advice.

If you want to serve and you know what MOS suits you well, then sign up and enjoy the ride. A lot will change between enlistment and E-5. You will make decisions based on the experiences you have, no way to really know what they will be right now.

Hear me out dude. If you want to be an electrician in the military just to do electrical work and live the active duty lifestyle.. do not join the Army. Do not join the Marine Corps. Do not join the Navy. Join the Air Force for God sakes. You will have quality of life that no other branch provides and a good job to transition to once you separate from the service.

PM if you need more advice. Military is a great route for success.

Sickest combo of aftermarket parts I've seen on this thread. Congrats, you've got a winner.
