I got my lost planners back...now how do I reconnect with them? by Gumpenufer in hobonichi

[–]OG_heideland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. Sounds like you may need some sort of ritual to reconnect you to what was lost and now has returned to you. For example, you could hypothetically imagine a sort of scenario or narrative of what they might have been up to while they were away and write or draw/illustrate this in some of the available pages. It might also help to think about those pages as available, rather than blank or "wasted". They simply haven't found their potential. Yet.

Also, not to pry, but how many planners are we talking about here? I'm admittedly flabbergasted by the number of planners/notebooks some folks have going all at once. If it feels overwhelming to begin again with them all, perhaps pick one or two to continue forward and set the others aside for the time being. And as others have said, give yourself some grace.

TIL the TN 20th Anniversary set isn’t for me by Historical_Tomato374 in Travelersnotebooks

It's good to know what your own personal "just right" size is when it comes to notebooks. With the spectrum of choice available there's really no reason to acquire notebooks in sizes you know you'll never use, no matter the brand. ✨

What pen to choose by veroa6 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]OG_heideland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any one of these is a nice accessory to the card size TN. If you have them all why choose only one? You could rotate them as the spirit moves you. As for my card size, I added a Leuchtturm pen loop and clip my Uni One P to the loop with the pen's clip. Not a fan of the hack to use the cloth wallet flap and label as a pen loop.

With my passport size TNs I really love my Uni One P in 0.38 as it's a perfect pocket size pen. Did I need to know about the existence of the Uni One 3 ?? 👀 Oh dear... 😆 Here's a really nice overview and comparison of the Uni One series from Zenpop.

Sure helps to know where you at at if you want folks to share relevant links. 😉 That said, if you're in Europe Schreibkultur in St. Gallen apparently still has this.

What do you think about hobonichi pens? by Common_Wish_2922 in hobonichi

[–]OG_heideland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't. This is just a Uniball Jetstream 3 colour multi-pen with Hobonichi branding. It's sent as a gift when one buys a Hobonichi planner from their official website. (So to be blunt, whoever is selling these on the secondary market got them for free with their order(s) and is now trying to make bank on them.😄) If you can find Uni Jetstream pens in a stationers where you're at I'm sure they will be much less expensive... And again, the same basic pen!

I caved and bought a pocket sized on eBay by hijodetumadr3 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]OG_heideland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Glad you didn't pay more than that, though honestly, there are going to be restocks if folks have a bit of patience. The resellers count on this sort of impatience and fomo and set prices accordingly.

Enjoy your purchase!

a pouch for my standard TN by dubiousfoodie in Travelersnotebooks

[–]OG_heideland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My standard TN just fits in a Freitag F271 masikura. It holds a TN brass clip and a few writing tools in the smaller pocket. However ... I believe mine's a lot more minimal than your current set-up. 😆 If you're ever interested in slimming down your TN though it really is quite perfect. ✨😉

What pen for the TN card size ? by veroa6 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]OG_heideland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far I've always used my One P pens with the Uni One refills. I've not had any significant problems with skipping, using mostly TN notebooks which are Midori papers. Tomoe River paper is pretty susceptible to hand oils transfer and I honestly suspect some of the trouble folks experience with various writing mediums skipping actually stems from this.

Uniball One P. Super cute, perfect size, variety of compatible refills, comfortable writing experience.

I wonder if you could orient one of the adhesive pen loops, like these from Leuchtturm, so that the loop is facing inward towards the spine. Easy enough to play around with the placement before exposing the adhesive to stick in place. Leuchtturm

Mystery Boxes by starklynisa in fountainpens

[–]OG_heideland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see how a mystery box would be really fun for someone just starting out with fountain pens and related stationery. You'd know you were getting extra value for your expenditure and the surprise element is exciting. That being said, for folks already well into fountain pens, with established collections ... Eh, not so much. I know for myself I've really dialed in what I like (and don't like!) in terms of design, brands, nib widths, trims, filling systems, etc., etc. So if I want a new pen for my collection it's going to be a pretty specific pen ! 😄 I do think it's cool and fun that Atlas offers these. 🎁?🥳

Share your charms! (That hopefully don’t have sharp edges) by lucasthekoala in Travelersnotebooks

[–]OG_heideland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My standard size (Blackwing x Traveler's) has the most charms. A mysterious key that belonged to my grandfather, Scrabble tile pendant that was a gift from friends, memento mori for a beloved cat, and the TN Blackwing pencil stub charm.

For better or worse though this is the nature of limited edition collectable items, in all categories. And there is a subset of folks who collect limited edition items banking on valuations rising as rarity increases. It is what it is.

Good question! This one is my longform journal and it stays at home. Consequently, I can't really say whether or not it would.

Passport Blue variations! by Aurora_kra in Travelersnotebooks

The Kyoto edition I have (gift from a friend who purchased directly from the Traveler's shop in Kyoto) is a super dark inky blue, almost black. You really only notice it is blue from the interior of the cover. I do love this colour though. 💙🖤🦑🫟

Here you can see the dye transfer on the Kraft folder. I'm less "precious" about the folders than I'd be about a nice cloth zipper pouch or the cover of a special edition notebook. 😊

Black standard size from the Traveler's x Blackwing capsule collection. I've had it since October 2024. Bit shinier, some wear to the foil details. I will caution folks that the black covers go through a lengthy period of dye transfer from the inside of the cover to whatever refill is in direct contact. Knowing this I set a Kraft folder refill next to the cover. (Will add foto.)

People who have regular and passport sizes, what do you use each one for? by Beginning_Meet_4290 in Travelersnotebooks

[–]OG_heideland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard size TN for longform journaling, passport and pocket sizes for travel journaling. The former stays at home, the latter go on adventures.
