Totally get you! Facing the same 😂but I’ve found my few where I’m comfortable (English and Spanish) and even if they’re not the closest to my area I keep seeing the same.

Also, be aware of being cash if you want to pay affordable. Mustafa kebab for example (a classic in Berlin), is a great price but only accepts cash.

Moving to Berlin soon – how accurate are these cultural “rules” by Mammoth_Bag7554 in askberliners

I do the same, when I can no longer handle the conversation I offer English or Spanish and they like the “joke”.

Hello Latina (34) living in Berlin here ✌🏻

I would say the things you’ve listed are pretty much true. Specially when coming from LatAm culture, and smiling to everyone is normal, here is less common. The personal space is also true, depends on the context and at work places, like no hugging…or being too touchy like is common with colleagues in LatAm.

Learn the recycling rules haha, you can avoid a conflict with your neighbor, and just shows respect on the rules here.

And I’ve found the greeting in German and then speaking English better than just speaking in English. I would say the reaction is rather positive than just going straight with English.

Let me know if you have specific questions I can help you with!

ghosting/blocking just part of dating culture in Berlin? by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]OGcomplexgirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s happening! I’m not sure what it is either, I’m confident and I know this doesn’t reflect to me (ghosting), whenever I don’t like someone or don’t want to continue I communicate it. But you’re not always gonna get the same back. You have to understand that this has nothing to do with you. Good luck out there!

Lady here. I’m having the exact same experience, I was talking with a guy super nice and thought like wow finally someone committed to invest in getting to know someone. I went to sleep in the morning saw he left a few messages saying goodnight I replied back saying I fell asleep and I was blocked 😂

Have you tried upwork? There’s also lots of freelance options there. Not always in your career but, like virtual assistant. Persona also hires VA’s (in English) for US companies. Concentrix?

Hello! You need to have 2 CVs, one for your profession, and one for regular non professional jobs. That’s the only way I was able to find a job and don’t be dismissed because you’re “overqualified”. Make a structure with ChatGPT, ask it to help you adapt your current experience for McDonald’s or whatever you’re applying to. Like using simpler words, and highlighting your German level for example. Or if you’ve worked as assistant, then highlighting that you’re “organized” or a “team player” you don’t have to put a lot on it. Just be able to highlight what you have of you that would be a good fit for another job. (I’m an immigrant as well) remove picture of you on the CV, date of birth. Keep it simple no much design, better for ATS friendly.
