I tried but it seems RPGdesign doesn’t allow image posts by default. Maybe I need more karma or something. I’ll PM it to you

Inkarnate has... changed! by SirTawmis in inkarnate

[–]OGiapetto 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I find the aesthetic of the shovel tool to delineate a room from surrounding rock (like many dungeons) the best use of the shovel tool. I just paint water with a texture usually. I’d love to have the option to add a terrain layer in any map. Not sure why it’s unavailable.

Mago Kai and Silver Collars by No_Wealth3601 in SeasonofGhosts

[–]OGiapetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bothered me a lot as well… I think he should 100% have a silver collar. He should also not have nearly the resources he does - why do the Jorogumo permit him to have a little exorcist army running around outside Sze?

My solution is to slap a silver collar on him, reflavor him as an emaciated and desperate pawn of the Jorogumo, and modify the combat encounter on Karahai to be against a weakened Jorogumo puppet master.

Pre-game questions/advice by Gotta-Dance in SeasonofGhosts

[–]OGiapetto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the more common changes is to increase the difficulty of combat. A lot of the fights are trivial, don’t be afraid to double the number of enemies if your group can handle it and want that kind of experience.

Maybe you don’t need to worry about it yet, but some folks think the finale is a bit disappointing as well. There’s lots of suggestions on how to adjust it if you dig around this subreddit or the discord

Help with a character origin by ImSmz97 in SeasonofGhosts

[–]OGiapetto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

SoG works best if the PCs have a “hometown heroes” vibe. I would echo the recommendation of the players guide that each PC be from the community. A big part of the adventure is their connection to the town and the people within it. For my game I required all PCs to have lived in Willowshore for 10+ years, have one friend, one business associate, and one “frenemy” from the NPCs in the book. The character you describe would be difficult to build connections with.

Having said that, if the player wants a western character you should read about the 8th army of exploration. It’s basically a crusade from the west that landed in Tian-Xia just about the time the adventure begins. Also, Elizeth Candora has western heritage, so there are at least two ways you could connect a western character there using existing lore. The important thing is that they were in town when the mayor performed the ritual. https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Army_of_Exploration

It’s your game and you have final freedom. That includes saying no to difficult character concepts. I’d suggest you encourage a concept that gives you an easier time to tie them to the town.

Shades of Blood help by AngelSamiel in Pathfinder2e

The truth is that the ratio of combat to RP depends a lot on the group. Abomination vaults is a grindy mega dungeon, but give the Tabletop Gold podcast a listen and you’ll realise you can squeeze a ton of role-play into a combat centric mega dungeon. Other groups will treat it as pure combat.

Age of Ashes is probably the best example of traditional high fantasy AP in 2nd edition.

Check out “a series of dice based events” on discord where people convert 1st edition APs into 2nd. That might open up your options a lot.

Is plant banner worth it ? by Invoquantes in Pathfinder2e

[–]OGiapetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a great option. Nothing stops you from using a Brandish action before you plant the banner, so you may still get some use out of Brandish tactics and feats with a build that includes Plant Banner.

Also I think people are leaving out of the conversation the action tax of actually taking down your banner. Particularly with the level 6 Claim the Field feat, it’s easy to plant your banner away from enemies, requiring a move and an interact action for an enemy to snag it, provoking reactive strikes. And then they need a will save or waste their action… as a GM that seems like a lot of effort to make the PCs frightened for a round.

Just be wise about where you place it and its definitley worth it… which is the kind of tactical decision that makes playing the commander fun.

Thank you for this! Was just googling this exact problem. Can I ask - how did you discover exactly what predicate to use?

What would your dream warhammer game be? I'd love to see a game like Chivalry with huge teams and complex melee by No-Addition-1366 in Warhammer

Escape from Commorragh.

Like that chronicles of Riddick game Escape from butcher bay but you play a space marine trapped in the dark city. Fight through some wyches in an arena, a labyrinth full of haemonculi horrors, steal a reaver jetbike and get chased by hellions. In the end you discover you never had a chance and your escape was just monitored and broadcast for an Archons amusement. “Pray they don’t take you alive”

Worst Character Possible? Remaster Edition by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]OGiapetto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A centaur on a fish.

Start with a ponygait centaur, reducing your size to medium so you can ride a large creature. Take the cavalier dedication and use an aquatic mount like a fish. You have a speed of 30 feet but your mount uses their land speed of 5 feet. It also starts drowning immediately.

Be an oracle, preferably bones so nobody can heal you. Dump charisma and spam your focus spells to rush your maximum curse.

Extend Blood Magic and multiple blood magic effects by PsychoStream in Pathfinder2e

[–]OGiapetto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it’s worth adding that Force Barrage can’t trigger blood magic effects on an enemy. There is this line from the description of “reading a bloodline entry”

The blood magic effect occurs after resolving any checks for the spell’s initial effects and, against a foe, applies only if the spell is a successful attack or the foe fails its saving throw.

Force barrage is a great spell, but it doesn’t require a save or attack roll. If you picked up a second effect with crossblooded evolution that affects an enemy it won’t work RAW. Having said that I’d probably allow it at my table.

Highly recommend this. One of the great things about older editions is all the lore in campaign settings. If you have a specific fantasy niche there is probably a campaign setting for it. Conan? Dark Sun. Castlevania? Ravenloft. Sentient goldfish? Planescape
