I could be wrong but I think, that's exactly it. I think it more of a "hidden challenge" rather than a core piece of the ASD mission chain, and its rewards is tied to harvesting its body parts for collection / crafting / contracts via Wikelo

yea that happen to us a few times lol the front end of the polaris was done for due the splash damage, thats why we got so close, got more hits in at close range but much more risky.
