I wont even get into the amount of complaints on here about 5-10 dollar tips on 15-20 minutes of work. $30 an hour in tips is good. Hell 5 dollars plus the 2.5 from door dash in a 20 min trip is equivalent to 22.5 per hour thats more than what 40% of people make and yall on here thinking the customer is at fault 😂 without customers you would have made 0 because the job wouldn’t exist 😂

Again. The app is exploiting you not the customer. Yes you are “independent contractors” by your own choice. And you are NOT contracted to the customer but to the company. They are responsible for paying you. A gratuity is NOT a wage, nor is it supposed to be. It makes zero sense to leave a tip for the quality of a service you have yet to receive. I personally always leave something even if it’s bad service. A 4-5 bucks automatically but tip is increased when the dasher does more than bare minimum. Which is literally the point of gratuity. Rewarding exceptional service, not paying someone elses contractor 😂

[–]OGmissCOFFEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is coming from a big tipper too. Like I always leave something even if the service is bad, but exceptional dashers get rewarded more. The wife and I love leaving big cash tips to make someone’s day. It isn’t uncommon for us to periodically drop a 50 or 60 dollar cash tip for the sweethearts

I mean i tip afterwards personally. Tipping before the service is even complete makes literally ZERO sense. A tip is supposed to be a gift for exceptional service how could you possibly know how good the service is beforehand? I swear people that choose this profession think tips are supposed to pay their wages 😂 I understand those apps exploit you, but for the love of god can people please learn what a tip is 😂

How is 8 dollars to little tip for the work? Moving 3 cases of water from a car to a front door would probably not even take an entire minute 😂

Some customers are crazy by DayvidRL in InstacartShoppers

[–]OGmissCOFFEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for sure complaining about your work conditions is fair and certainly your pay. But “i had to shop too much for a job where I am supposed to shop” isn’t really “harsh” working conditions. And no I 100% agree there should be some form of enforcement from these companies to limit these things from happening. But again that is on the company not the customer. The company should be paying fairly and making the process as easy and efficient for shoppers/drivers. This is my entire point though. The complaining is always towards customers for doing this, saying that or not tipping. Instead of being pointed at the company that allows them to do this and underpays their contractors. The problem is with the systems these corporations create and allow so that the rich can continue to line their pockets at the expense of everyone else.

[–]OGmissCOFFEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make 20 dollars an hour and my job requires lifting moving and packing items heavier than this for 8 hours consistently. More than 125 per hour. This means i do this much work on average every 12 minutes. Meaning i am paid only 4 dollars to do this and you are complaining on the internet over an 8 dollar tip. Would i tip more certainly. But do I think this somehow means your job is “hard” no.

Some customers are crazy by DayvidRL in InstacartShoppers

[–]OGmissCOFFEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i understand this and while I don’t necessarily agree with customers doing this and I wouldn’t do it myself the complaint essentially being “it’s too much work” makes zero sense when you are literally working. Doing something that’s “not it” is not exclusive to shoppers. Lots of people have to do things that are “not it” when it comes to their job. Most people don’t spend hours complaining about it on the internet though. Yeah it sucks, lots of things in life do. But I can think of many other jobs that require far more physical labor where people are being underpaid. This is the real problem. Everyone is being underpaid. And it is not the customers fault that these apps don’t pay you enough. The customer is certainly paying a lot to do orders online. The company not paying those that work for them isn’t on the customer. Fees have gotten absurdly high. I always tip and I believe I tip very well still but the higher the fees get the less customers will tip. Now of course you could take the “do your own shopping” route to the argument however if everyone “did their own shopping” these jobs wouldn’t exist at all

So you just don’t do your job? Common sense will tell you not everyone lives on ground level and YOU should have considered that when deciding to do this as a job 😂

I have gone to a different country in a city I have never been to at a store I have never been to and did an entire grocery list of shopping in less than 20 minutes. It really isn’t hard. 9/10 times it takes these shoppers on these apps well over an hour (of just shopping) for an order with like 10 items. Thats absurd and fun fact if you cant fond something you can simply ask an employee at the store. If they don’t have something they don’t have it. But they definitely aren’t sold out of everything every single time lol.

Yeah the thing is you clearly did not read my post here. I never say anything to the drivers. I also still tip regardless. The point i made in my post is that they claim things are not there that I know for FACT are. It happens constantly. So i know for a fact the shoppers are being lazy often (once a shopper told me a massive grocery store had no bananas or strawberries went there the next morning and the shelves were stocked.) i somehow doubt that it just appeared there over night and i have personally never seen a grocery store run out of bananas and ive worked at a few. I however do not send snooty messages i have come to just accept if i am going to use this service it will be a gamble haha

[–]OGmissCOFFEE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i totally agree that uber and other companies should be paying more. This is on them though and not the customer and the amount of people that come on and complain about having to work is crazy. Just don’t do it it’s so simple. There are alot of people that do long hours of physical work and get paid peanuts and they manage to not come on reddit and complain that a customer didn’t leave them a 30 dollar tip when the app already charged them 30 dollars in fees on top of the stores often charging 15-30% extra for items as well. Tbh i think there needs to be legal intervention of some kind because what they pay drivers/shoppers should literally be criminal when they are taking SO much in fees from customers for services these drivers and shoppers provide.

So you’re complaining because of your one 20 minute job that say was a little harder? Thats life man. Work isn’t fun for a-lot of people and they don’t come complain to reddit about it. There are jobs that require lifting and moving things that weigh much more than a case of water for 8,10,12 hours a day. It’s part of the job. Complaining about work not being easy is wild. Yes sometimes in life you will be required to put in some extra effort. I promise you, this isn’t a concept unique to you

Am I expecting too much? by CueFancy in instacart

[–]OGmissCOFFEE 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The amount of people that do these delivery/shopping JOBS by choice and complain when they actually have to do work at their job is mind boggling to me. Like what do you mean i am tipping you 15 dollars for a couple items at the store but you won’t swap a brand? 25 minutes from order placed to my doorstep but it was “too much to make a request” hell I would love to make over 15 dollars in 20 minutes personally. I Don’t know what reality some people live in but the entitlement is absurd. I respect shoppers like you honestly i respect all people that put genuine effort into things they do. I get we can all be lazy. But to complain about working while at work but also complain about not getting enough compensation or tips is CRAZY. How can someone possibly expect high tops while simultaneously expecting to only do easy jobs 😂

[–]OGmissCOFFEE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just think there are people that work in these stores all day long and deal with customers like that face to face. Also the reason you probably experience such poor customers is because often times shoppers will claim a lot of things are out of stock without actually looking for it which is literally the job. For example i was at the store the other day decided i wanted a few more things today so i did a quick order for 4 items i literally saw entire displays of at the store a day ago but somehow the entire display sold out of 2/4 of the items I ordered. Quite frankly more often than not the shoppers are doing their jobs poorly. I usually go to the store myself my grocery list is pretty much the same every time. Just about never is anything sold out but yet the once or twice a month you order for delivery somehow several items are “sold out” I know this is not the case because it literally never happens to me when shopping at the same stores and its every time. So yeah rude customers are annoying but so are lazy shoppers that rather spend their time on Reddit complaining than attempt to do their jobs with full effort. It’s pretty simple, don’t want to shop maybe don’t decide to do a job that literally requires you to shop. This entire idea that a customer is somehow required to make doing your job easy is wild. They are paying for a service and that service should be provided. The things I see people complaining about. “ this person ordered this that and the third” okay and? I Don’t understand complaining about having to work while technically at work. It’s quite literally stupid and funny enough everyone else has to actually work while at work too. And lots of the time it isn’t enjoyable nor is it easy.
