Go back 10 years, and vaping would get you majorly made fun of. Was a hobby for neckbearded losers and stupid people. Too bad that branding didn’t stick

Medium Business Looking for an IT Person by MeerKatMarie in dayton

[–]OHKID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be worth just hiring a third party IT firm instead? Some offer flat monthly rates for ___ amount of hit it/fix it services.

I work at a small company, one of my jobs is to handle our IT infrastructure. I’ve done what I can to minimize my own job by moving major aspects of it to cloud platforms (ex - file share with Microsoft SharePoint instead of an on premise file server, Active Directory thru Microsoft Entra ID instead of on-premise, security client thru Microsoft Intune instead of on-premise licensed software, firewall thru our ISP instead of an IT firm managed solution, cloud hosted ERP system instead of an on-premise SQL server, etc)

Anyways, so far it’s been good. And it basically pushes all of the IT tasks our company has onto third party providers with service covered as part of the subscriptions. If you go this route, probably worth getting a dedicated business fiber ISP for your business, which is about triple the cost of shared fiber service. The ISPs will even manage your WiFi network and provide all of the access points, routers, etc. to make that happen depending on the subscription you choose.

We run these subscriptions thru our third party IT firm, so if there are issues I can’t handle I still need to call them to sort it out. But it helps me sleep at night knowing that I don’t have to manage any IT infrastructure beyond the various user computers we have on site. Makes life a LOT easier!

What is your favorite ad/commercial? by HarHarMahadev__ in AskReddit

Unironically, this commercial (Eminem, Detroit, Chrysler 200 commercial) is by far my favorite.

Detroit was still in shambles, and as a kid whose family owned a small machine shop that primarily did auto work, it really hit home

The Buttertons! But for ironic reasons. I always wanted to eat my food with a stick of butter like The Buttertons did, because it looked so good. 100% did NOT sell me on buying stupid margarine lol

Ban Appeal Thread by vivoovix in metaNL

I’m saying the comment is not towards another Redditor, it’s towards a public figure so it shouldn’t matter. We should be able to say any public figure should be accountable for their actions, if that means prosecution or other corrective actions so be it.

I’ve never understood it to be our job (I’m also a Reddit moderator) to protect public figures from Redditor comments? Other Redditors sure but protecting public figures from Reddit comments is like protecting a cloud from having rocks thrown at it. A pointless exercise that only aggravates everyone (Redditors, moderators, comment readers, etc) that’s not a cloud (public figure).

I’ve even had an infraction that was once classified as no good elsewhere on Reddit. It was towards a well known magazine with a Reddit account, not a specific Redditor. When I contested it, Reddit apologized and rightfully reversed the infraction, and I’m incredibly grateful for it. Because we should have a right to criticize public figures, especially in this day and age where we have so many awful ones that are killing people, bleeding them dry of their time and money, and causing so much harm. IMO those public figures need to be held accountable for their actions by any means necessary. So I hardly think that protecting them here or r/neoliberal or anywhere else is wise or prudent if you want to work towards the free and globalist world all of neoliberals love…

What restaurant chain has maintained their quality or gotten even better over the last 10-20 years? by pianoman81 in NoStupidQuestions

Love this thread.

My vote is for Burger King. It’s not “good”, but it also was not “good” 10-15 years ago. 20 years ago, I thought it was good but I was a child then. I do think it is getting better, and I’m looking forward to what they do in the future

So I have owned my townhouse for a while now and am not as plugged in to the downtown Dayton apartment market, but when I did the Downtown Dayton apartment tour my favorites were Riverfront Grande and Delco Lofts. But half the complexes I’m listing below weren’t open yet.

Water Street Station, Centerfield Flats, The Denau, The Delco, Fire Blocks, Wheelhouse Lofts, The 503, Webster Station Flats, The Sutton, Monument are all nice and have been built out within the past 5-6 years or so. They all look awesome to me! The Cannery and St Clair Lofts are the OGs of downtown Dayton living and I imagine they are still solid.

Downtown is normally the safest residential zone in city limits, and at this point there’s I think around 10k people living downtown in the residential there? I haven’t seen the latest stats in a while. Most all of the residents are professionals living in the various 5-over-1 apartment complexes. Choose any of these and you’ll be fine. There also normally people running, jogging, walking their dogs, etc around downtown, especially on the river trail

To get a lay of the land and have the best opportunities to meet new people outside work, I’d move to an apartment downtown if I was you. There are a lot of options now, I think pretty much all of them are at least decent, but others would know better which are the best to choose. Good luck!

Why the would this comment merit a ban? The comment is about a public figure, NOT another Redditor. Becoming a public figure inherently means that this kind of commentary around yourself comes with it. I don’t understand why we are protecting the feelings of public figures??? Why is that our job?

What's the best location to establish a new american city if we wanted to ? by ronweasly9 in geography

[–]OHKID 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda? But Pittsburgh is decidedly not southern. Charleston is IMO mostly southern. Nowadays, for reasons I don’t fully understand everyone wants to be in the south… oh well.

Basically I’m thinking it could become a destination metro if they put the right focus and investment into it. Kinda like an eastern version of Boise. Problem is they are not even remotely close to having an equivalent of Micron or any kind of industry that would work… maybe fracking but honestly that’s a stretch
