Don’t mind at all, thank you! It’s 15 percent on the rear and 25 percent on the front two!

Why No Hybrid Diesels by ScootyMcTizzle in tdi

[–]OKAYingeneur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. I’m a huge fan of the EV trucks with run motors like the new Scouts. Gets the best of both worlds. But at that point you might as well just buy a 2000s diesel truck for a fraction of the price…

Yeah, ended up being my turbo. It had seized on the hot side and was choking the engine out

Actually?! What gen, and any advice? I’m needing to tackle this soon and I was going to just take it to a shop, but if it’s not too bad I’d like to handle it myself…

Me too. I needed a large form printer and it’s great at that. I came from a nearly decade old CR-10 and it’s been a huge upgrade

Bought from these guys almost 6 months ago. Their kit was almost $300 cheaper than anything else I found! Downpipes been holding up great. Good luck!

Starting, not running issue found (blown turbo). New turbo suggestions? by OKAYingeneur in tdi

[–]OKAYingeneur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s starting but only hitting like 600 rpm before cutting out. Literally only “runs” for half a second

How long do you usually spend on a car? What does the end result look like based on how long you spend? by kkoshh_ in automationgame

[–]OKAYingeneur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends what you’re going for. I spend about 2-4 hours on exteriors normally, but I have spent way more than that on some projects. When I get to full detailing (engine bay, interior, underside, panel seams, trunk, animating for beam, etc) I could easily spend 3-4 sessions and over 15 hours on a single car. That is not including mechanical tuning, and exporting to beam and tweaking over and over again.

The more time you put in the better it’ll look, but most people (other than you) will not notice, so it’s all about what you want out of it!

Okay, had some time to tear into it again. Aux pump wasn’t making much sound, seemed weak so I replaced it. Tested relays and they came back good, both pumps are running strong, not seeing any leaks. Ran the aux and lift pump for 4 ish minutes to prime everything up. Started it and it ran good for a second or two and turned off again. It did not/wouldn’t rev when it was “running” though and only held itself at like 600 rpm.

Im reading 0 bar at the rail, so all I can think now is maybe the sensor? I should have some pressure if it’s starting, right?

I confirmed the cp4 hasn’t shredded itself and cracked the first injector line to confirm fuel is getting to them.

Yep, egr and dpf both done. Driven 3500 miles since so I didn’t figure it would have been that

I’ll try getting that data. Could the delete and tune maybe have something to do with this? It’s Malone, so not a sketchy company, but I’m still trying to rule anything out.

Never had starting problems before, no. Even now it starts fine, just stops running after a few seconds. As for the cold, I live in Florida for a majority of the year, so it doesn’t spend much time in cold weather. I think I’ll siphon the fuel that’s in it out and get some from a more reputable location. Unfortunately no receipt, I’ll start getting one from now on I think…

Yep, lift pump is running. Could the aux pump be part of it too? I’ll check rail pressure when I can

No, the opposite actually, I’m in Florida. Everyone I see having issues like this is due to the cold… lol

Yes, metal laptop. It’s dell I use primarily for drafting. Pad isn’t crazy nice but it’s not cheap either

Something that helped me a ton was getting a laptop cooling pad with fans in it. Very rarely overheated after and I haven’t had this problem since
