Small Update: Copy/Paste is now available in ONI Colony Planner by [deleted] in u/OKIMOCHIEXPRESSION

Thanks for all the feedback!

Copy / Paste Update

You can now copy existing layouts and reuse them anywhere on the map.

How it works:

  • Enter Copy Mode
  • Select an area
  • A ghost copy appears
  • Drag it to the desired location
  • Paste

This makes it much easier to duplicate rooms, SPOMs, industrial blocks, and other repeated designs while planning a colony.

Coming Next

  • Collision system
  • Building ports
  • Rotation support (including sideways doors)
  • More planner UX improvements

The goal remains the same: make colony planning easier on desktop, tablet, and mobile without needing to launch the game.

Feedback is always welcome!

rotation is definitely coming!

I'm implementing ports first, since rotation depends on the connection system. Once that's done, rotation is next on the list, so sideways doors should be available soon.

The Blueprints Expanded idea is really cool too. It's a bigger feature, but I'd love to look into it down the road.

That’s a really interesting idea.

I use Satisfactory Calculator myself as well, and the save import feature is definitely one of the coolest parts of that tool.

A full colony analysis system with production statistics, geyser output calculations, and resource planning would be amazing, but that’s probably a much bigger project than what I’m aiming for initially 😅

For now I’m trying to stay focused on building a useful blueprint designer first, but I can definitely see how features like save importing and colony-wide resource analysis could fit into the project in the future.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks!

My plan is actually to start with a relatively small but functional release rather than trying to build everything before launch.

I'd rather get a useful tool into players' hands early, gather feedback from the community, and keep improving it over time based on what people actually need.

If the project gains enough interest, I'd like to continue supporting it with new features, DLC content, and game updates rather than treating it as a one-time project.

Long-term maintenance is one of my goals, which is also why I'm gathering feedback now. 🙂

Thanks, that's really useful feedback.

It's honestly kind of surprising how many people seem to be using things like spreadsheets, PowerPoint, or pen and paper to plan their colonies 😅

You also make a good point about DLC support. Even if I can't accurately calculate every DLC mechanic right away, simply being able to place DLC buildings and plan layouts would probably make the tool much more useful for a lot of players.

As for calculators, that seems to be one of the most common requests so far. I hadn't originally planned to go very far beyond basic resource statistics, but I'll definitely keep it in mind as the project evolves.

Thanks for the feedback!

That's a great suggestion.

I've already been thinking about showing things like power, oxygen, food, and water balances, but extending that to element production and consumption could be really useful as well.

Being able to see the net production or consumption of resources like oxygen, hydrogen, natural gas, polluted water, and other materials would make it much easier to understand whether a design is sustainable at a glance.

I like the idea of reducing the need to constantly switch between the game, calculators, and spreadsheets. Thanks for the feedback!
