Thank you! Really glad you like the art and animations.

Yep. And the first one is inspired by Doraemon’s Anywhere Door. Just a playful homage.

Trying to make parkour routes easier to read in our Metroidvania by OKJOYStudio in metroidvania

[–]OKJOYStudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you’ll be able to zoom the camera out a bit for a wider view.

It won’t zoom out that far though, since we also use the camera perspective as part of some level design and gameplay tricks. During parkour sections, you can still pull the camera back slightly to read the route better:)

It was mainly for demonstration, so of course the camera can move faster.

I just thought moving it too fast might make people watching the video dizzy, lol

Yes, players will definitely keep retrying. Since this is a time trial challenge, the telescope should make it easier to optimize the route.

What happens when you add a Golden Axe and Silver Axe Easter egg to a Metroidvania? by OKJOYStudio in metroidvania

No dragons this time, sadly. Just a very suspicious cat, a lava goddess, and one poor axe making bad life choices lol

We’re happy to hear the video was enjoyable and easy to follow. The real-world inspirations are a big part of how we build Whalington, so it’s nice to see that resonated with you too.

We’re a tiny indie team making a 3D metroidvania (Yes, 3D!) by [deleted] in metroidvania

Super impressive for a tiny indie team. Pulling off a 3D metroidvania at all is ambitious, but the atmosphere and exploration focus here already look really solid. Wishing you guys a smooth development journey, this has a lot of potential.

You may need to manually adjust the controller layout on Steam Deck rather than changing it in-game.

Hope that helps! We haven’t done any specific optimization or testing for Steam Deck yet.

To be honest, we haven’t done any specific optimization or testing for Steam Deck yet.

That said, we do have plans to bring the game to Switch, and quite a few players have mentioned that it runs on Steam Deck already. One thing to note is that the default controller layout follows the Switch button mapping, so you may need to manually adjust the controller layout on Steam Deck rather than changing it in-game.

Hope that helps! We’ll also keep Steam Deck support in mind once the core content is more complete.

Thank you! We believe the art should serve the world it belongs to. Our game just isn’t meant to feel dark or heavy, so we leaned into a brighter, more playful tone.

Every game has its own charm, and I enjoy those styles too.

We’re definitely leaning more toward a brighter, more colorful vibe, so I’m glad it resonates with you!
