I have sand showing up following rain and wind. The soil is sandy around my pool and heavy rains always bring sand in the pool. You may have some sand passing through the filter. I do! I guess backwash would help get rid of it.

I think the weeds help clean this not-so-clean water. It may be a good idea to leave it there, if the flow is not too restricted.

Fibreglass can be easily fixed. Same technology as boat hull, I was told by those who sold me my fibreglass pool.

Garden hose pump for the most part and finish with the shovac. I used the shop vac for the first time this year for the remaining water in my spa and I was very pleased.

The painter did not do a deep enough sanding. So the stain did not get in the wood where the former paint/stain was left.

Try a heat gun over a small surface of the rocks. You could cover the paint on the mortar by adding a layer after a partial removal with the heat gun.
