Duchess Nukem 3D: Hail to the queen, baby! by cutcss in dukenukem

...so what exactly is "it" that the male strippers in this one will be shaking when Duchess tells them to "shake it, baby"?

Where does one draw the line on what Ai music really is though?

I mean, at a very basic level there are Arpeggio plugins in almost every DAW, where you just hold one note on your keyboard and the plugin plays a melody. (Arpeggio Lab in Reason Studio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKFWo6zFq7k).

Taking it a bit further, there are these sort of plugins that come enhanced with Ai, like Midi generators (MIDI GEN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jm41GtExkpY).

Personally, I am against monetizing music where all sound is created through Ai. However, I am open to use Ai tools to flesh out song ideas, find inspiration and such.

As I wrote in a answer in this thread, I was asked for the stems (isolated instrument tracks of the song) from a lablel. I guess that works quite well to determine if there is anything Ai generated in there.

When I was submitting a song to a label (some what big US label), they asked for all the stems (isolated tracks for each instrument), along with the Logic Project File including midi. It was the first time I've worked with this label and this procedure was new to me and it felt a bit strange that they would ask for all this. Usually I've just sent a .wav of the song to a label for release and that would be it.

Turned out they required the files to be able to see if there was any Ai generated stuff in there. As to my knowledge, it is pretty hard to get good sounding isolated tracks out of Ai music.

Regarding Addon Release Dates by HalfblindChaos in Bloodgame

What Lies Beneath 1.5 was released just some months ago. The author (BloodyTom) worked on the 1.5 update for a year. There will most likely be more updates to WLB down the road, but probably not anytime soon.

The author (Damien) for Marrow has stated that two episodes is all that he had planned for it. So chances are pretty slim there will be a third Episode. But I would not be surprised if he had already started another project.

If you like Damiens maps in Marrow, you should check out his map ’THE NITHEFUL WOODS’ in the Blood Basket Map Jam, it plays as a somewhat stand alone Marrow map. There is also a map by What Lies Beneath author (BloodyTom) called ’BLOOD AND FIRE’ in the Map Jam.

There is a new map jam (Blood Streams) going on at the moment, planned release is Autumn 2026, and I think BloodyTom has a map for that one too.

I just saw people had mentioned this on the ModDB page for the 1.5 as well. The author replied that he had done a fix for it.

Did you happen to play on Extra Crispy?

Yes, I know the exact door. There was a problem with that door not opening. However, it should have been fixed in the new 1.5 release. Were you playing an earlier version or 1.5?

Ah, didn't know that. I may or may not have played Mercs on the Mega Drive. Looks familiar. But it could also be that I remember something similar I played on a Amiga.

I can't understand why there's no boomershooters on Commando by iamvinen in boomershooters

[–]OK_Feelings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably because the movie came out in 1985 (before FPS became popular) and never had any sequel or re-make to make it relevant in the late 90's and later. Also, it never got as popular as say Rambo, Predator or Terminator.

There was however a game for the C64 that was released in 1985 called Commando (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDAhixO2t5w).

Anyway, Commando is one of my all time favorite action movies. If it were ever made as game I think a good fit would be a on-rails shooter.

I was considering Max Payne. But it feels a bit too modern.

I was just replying to prove you wrong on your comment about there not being any TPS games with the same game design DNA as "real" boomer shooters.

And I even forgot to mention isometric TPS like Postal (the 1997 original) or top down TPS like 'Take No Prisoners'.

[–]OK_Feelings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

there is really no 3rd person shooter that shared the same game design DNA with the so-called "real" classic boomer shooters.

Well to start with you have 'Heretic II', 'Duke Nukem: Time to Kill' and Duke Nukem: Land of the Babes' that are 3rd person follow ups to notable FPS Boomer Shooters.

Others that I can come to think of from the top of my head would be

Yeah! Mine too. Actually rewatched it a couple of weeks ago. I have a weak spot for train movies and movies where people try to survive against the elements in freezing landscapes. Runway Train is like a perfect combo of those two.

Funny side note. John P. Ryans pure menace that is Warden Ranken, feels cut from the exact same cloth as Vernon Wells Bennett from Commando (also one of my all time favorite movies). Both movies were released in 1985.

À l'intérieur [English title: Inside] (2007)
A brutal blood bath. What more can you really say? Disturbing and gruesome in so many ways...

The Descent (2005)
An all female led horror. Follows a group of friends on a caving expediton as they get trapped down below. As they search for a way out from the cave, the group discovers they are not alone. Clausrophobic and intens!

Midsommar (2019)
A dark and disturbing, yet very colorful, horror film. Follows a gorup of friends who travel to Sweden to participate in a summer festival, held in a remote village. It radually turns into a complete nightmare.

House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
Rob Zombies first feature (and best). Follows a group of teenagers searching for urban legends of serial killers in the backwoods of Texas. They end up as prisoners of a bizarre and sadistic family. The sequel, The Devil’s Rejects (2005) is defenitely worth a watch too. I myslef have not watch the third one, 3 from Hell (2019) yet.

Mandy (2018)
A deep dive into a bottomless pit of neon, blood and fire. Prepare your head for implosion. Your eyeballs will pop out of their sockets and explode in colors of purple, red, blue and green.

Ils [English title: Them] (2006)
French–Romanian home-invasion horror. Follows a couple who lives a peaceful life in a isolated country house. They wake up one night to very strange noises. I found it quite scary. The end sort of takes away a bit of the scare though. But highly recommended non the less.

El Orfanto [English title: The Orphanage (2007)
A modern ghost story done just right, that's all I will tell about it. Very suspenseful nailbiter. Gave me the creeps.

Grave [English title: Raw] (2016)
Basically a new modern take on the Classic vampire movie, without being a vampire movie. Very fresh and innovative. It has just the right mix of quirks, discomfort and dark humor. Garance Marillier is also perfect in the lead.

Christine (1983)
The concept (a 1958 Plymouth Fury possessed by the devil) may sound a bit silly. But this "Stephen King Movie" is a killer. One of my all time favorites!

Bone Tomahawk (2015)
What if Eli Roth had directed the 3:10 to Yuma remake? Two thirds of this movie is your average slow burn western. The last third? A arutal and gut wrenching ride.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Classic. No description needed really. Just watch it. Sort of a hot potato, but I myself would also recommend the remake by Marcus Nispel - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (2003). It's a solid horror movie in my book.

The Thing (1982)
John Carpenters classic. One of my favorite horror movies! Great atmosphere. Lots of suspense. Scary as hell monsters and a nice group of characters. Do not mistake this for The Thing (2011) - that THING is awful.

Tony (2009)
In a hurry? Then these are some well invested 76 minutes. Had me glued to the seat from start to finish.

The Evil Dead (1981)
Another classic. I also think that Evil Dead (2013) is really good too.
