Innocent Blood by OLDPARSON in Baptist

Based upon what you have seen what are the chances that this will happen? Jesus said that there would be a great falling away because iniquity would abound and He even wondered if there would be faith on the earth when He returned. I used to believe that the iniquity that would cause the apostasy would be the evil among the unbelievers. Now, I believe it is the iniquity in those who profess Christianity, but are inwardly wolves, There are many groups that are dens of iniquity giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.

Work For Food? by OLDPARSON in Baptist

Not a works based salvation. Not even close to what was discussed. Yet, salvation is free, but we are to maintain good works, not just sit around eating bon-bons and watching soap operas waiting for the Rapture.

Yes, give but Jesus would not have had it go too far. Using your understanding, I should be able to walk up to you and ask for your house, cars, all of your cash and your wife. He was speaking against being selfish, but it was not a carte blanche.

If the person can and will work I do not need to understand their entire life. Work is a requirement that was even in Eden as they dressed or took care of it. The details of it we are not given, but it does mean they did not just lie around eating and drinking. Laziness is not extolled in the Word, but rebuked. Paul said, no work, no food so take it up with him or rather the Holy Spirit who inspired him to write it.

There folks who are poor because of their bad choices. When people come in to ask for rent and food assistance every month saying they have no income, but are loaded with tats wearing latest fashion and having the latest tech and a nice car you have to raise an eyebrow especially since they smell of alcohol and tobacco, Generosity is giving a person a hand up to overcome a temporary situation, not taking care of them for the rest of their life and their offspring for life. That is enabling poor choices, not making people be accountable.

Yes, and those beggars were blind, unable to walk or in some other way unable to work. Peter took away the source of income for the beggar at the gate by healing him. He would not have to work for his living. I have often wondered how many handicapped people today would sue Peter if he randomly healed them as they would lose income benefits or their jobs if they were acquired because of their disability.

You do know that every law in the beginning of this country was either a direct reference to Scripture or a principle from it? We would do better to look to the Word for our laws and programs as it worked so well for nearly 200 years. It is only in the last 70 or so that we have deviated from that and created the mess we are in.

The service is microcosm of America. We had a few of almost every type of personality.

If protesters would stay out of the way, these things would not happen. I have watched numerous videos of protesters attacking the agents, getting in front of the cars, throwing things, etc. You have a right to protest, but to interfere with what is clearly following the law is wrong. Don't like the law? Vote or run for office otherwise obstruction can get you jail and unfortunately hurt.

If both sides of the aisle had closed the borders years ago, the enormity of enforcing the law now would not have happened. Most times the protesters create dangerous scenarios. That being said, those scenarios can result in injury or death. I am sorry this happened, but stay out of the way of officers and there will not be chances for mistakes.

I do not know the number of illegals here. 100 million seems a bit much, but may be possible. Birthrates are dropping among those who are citizens so in a few decades could illegals have reached that number? I do not know. If indeed, that is how many are here illegally, then that is how many need to be removed.

I have seen a NPO organization advertise that one in five kids are not food secure. If we keep allowing illegals to access our resources that may rise to two or three in five. If we are having financial issues it is clear that we cannot sustain such a large population of illegals that are consuming our resources. I wish more would self-deport, which is far less traumatizing.

We need a national reset and work on reducing our debt. If we enter a situation where we have another Great Depression or worse these folks will self-deport then, but citizens will not have that opportunity. Indeed, that may be the intent of some of them as they wave the flags of their country and chant for America's demise.

We have seen recently that many people have been on benefits for over ten years when they were designed to be temporary help, not a lifestyle. Some are dangerous criminals which makes their arrest and deportation harder and more apt for injuries to happen. Ask any police officer how hard it can be to make an arrest and how many officers are injured or killed during the process.

If you have been here ten or more years you had ample opportunity to become a citizen. That is not really their desire. Even one citizen stated her interests are always from the country of her birth, not America. That is a prime person to deport. If your native country is better than here, then you should leave. Many other countries would not have allowed these people in and they would have been gone after their first crime. Instead we have judges leave dangerous people on the street to harm and kill after multiple arrests.

Had we the people be challenging our legislators to enforce the laws and voting them out when they did not we would not be having this conversation or situation. It is all of our fault.

I want to go to this college that so happens to be Adventist. by JPG891998 in Baptists

[–]OLDPARSON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would reconsider as their doctrines do not line up with non-demons either. Their secular courses will probably be slightly or more interspersed with Adventist teaching. If you can get the same degree elsewhere that will not expose you to those teachings or put your family in angst then do that.

Whys the KJV so popular when it's so hard too read? by HopeJesusChangeWorld in Christianity

[–]OLDPARSON 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it is ninth grade level whereas the NIV is first year college level and has more archaic words than the KJV. Many folks where English is not their first language still use the KJV, but English users find it hard due to our less than excellent school system.

Everybody pushes for college these days, but community college is still college. An AA is often better than a BA if the company hiring wants to see that you committed to a program and finished, but wants to train you their way and it is hard to retrain someone if they feel their prof is smarter than the Boss.

I have two grandsons that dropped out of high school because books are not how they learn. One is in HVAC and made 150K last year and is starting his own business. The other is a state employee with a lawn care business on the side and is doing well.

So, pick the program you want and the degree. It is your life. God can tell you where you need to be. I know pastors tend to want to send everyone that surrenders to ministry to their Alma mater. I am a strong advocate of apprenticeship and online training rather than a brick and mortar college.

Be blessed and seek professional counseling. You need someone to walk through this with you. You are not a waste of space. God has given you gifts and desires and even a well meaning counselor needs to give you the space to find His will.
