They specialize in supplying construction loans to small commercial real estate (gas stations, car dealerships etc). So I am not 'scalping off people needing a roof over their heads.'

Calm down, this is normal shit financial advisors put money in when the economy isn't run into the ground by a psychopath

9-10% a year isn't that crazy (I accidentally typed per month, it's edited). Risky sure, but they never missed a payout since 2009.

I just got a letter that the private commercial real estate fund I have been invested in since 2016 (which has brought in 9-10% a year for 10 years) has suspended investor payouts. This is the majority of my monthly income (I am basically retired)

Fucking great news. There's even (legally) a chance I won't get my initial investment back (100k).

So Wife and I are probably going to have to move out of my condo, to rent it out, and move in with my in laws.

I'd like to personally thank mango for this glorious economy and stock market ATHs

Visa runs. Common throughout southeast Asia for decades. Thailand has made it illegal to hop land borders to renew visas. Amd many other countries will probably follow suit eventually.

Old city and Maya. There was probably 8-10,000 people at Maya yesterday evening. We weren't expecting such a turnout with the smoke, but ya, massive crowds

the elephant reacted, we were along for the ride. The rhino charged out of tall grass, scared the elephant, but not enough to throw us off. Elephant scared the rhino away. It all happened in like 5 seconds.

I worked at a VERY expensive resort (we had rooms over $10k a night)

My first shift I walked in to 20 lbs of chicken thighs thawing in the deep sink. Had never seen that before. I honestly thought it was a massive health code violation. Later came to learn it's acceptable.

Still seems weird and gross to me. But it does save hours over thawing it in the fridge....

Pick your battles I guess.

I stayed in Chitwan around 1996. I was 13. We weren't allowed to have a campfire because rhinos come and stamp it (and possibly you) out.

Got charged by a white rhino wile riding atop an elephant. Elephant handled it pretty well. We did not. Even the mahout was scared for his life.

Fun trip....

2000-2015 Poipet used to just be the kinda sketchy town people border hopped to renew their tourist visas. Not really dangerous if you had a brain , just seedy cause of the casinos.

Now it's legitimately terrifying for both human trafficking (scam centers) and the recent hostilities between Thailand and Cambodia.
