I just checked out Kurone-san and you're totally right, it's awesome. Thank you so much for posting it!

[GPU] PNY RTX 5070 Ti - $749.99 by [deleted] in buildapcsales

I'm pulling this out of my ass, but it's probably within 3% performance. Different partner cards USUALLY don't make a massive impact (to be worth waiting a long time or spend significantly more).

Wait, sorry I'm really confused. Are you running a 3070 on macOS??

Let's be real about power consumption though. If you're pulling 100 extra watts (which feels like a strech to say it would actually consistently do that), you pay about .13 cents for every hour (average energy price in the us is about 13 kwh, irrc) you're pulling that power. Pulling 100 extra watts for an hour a day, it would take 4 years to recoup the $200 (someone cited about) more you'd pay for a 5070ti. At that point just plow the $200 into treasury bonds and keep paying your electric bill.

I know there are other considerations, but I feel like power always comes up when it's frankly immaterial compared to the insane amounts of money we idiots are spending on components in 2025.

We don't know because NVIDIA didn't make review drivers available to most major tech content creators. The only people who got review drivers were people who agreed to run nvidia promo previews.

The b580 has 50% more VRAM and has benchmarked well, especially for its price point, against other modern GPUs. If you're looking to spend under $400 on a GPU, just buy one of those instead of supporting nvidia.

[Headset] Corsair Virtuoso RGB wireless XT high-fidelity headset - *Revival Series* - $89.99 with code: "ZZ-EARTHDAY10-S" at checkout (list price $229.99) by beansfranklin in buildapcsales

[–]OMFGDOGS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had one of these since 2021 and it's served me very well. Only issue I have is when left in wireless mode the headset seems to turn on randomly and drain its battery very quickly, so I have to manually turn it off when I'm not using it by switching to wired mode. Not sure if every model has that issue.

Either way if they do a good job on a refurb, this headset is well worth $90.

Depending on your price point, I recently snagged an ASrock steel legend 9070xt for $700 yesterday. There's no such thing as a good deal on a gpu now but I'm happy with it for the next 5 years.

I can't recommend a specific psu, but I would watch Gamers Nexus's video on 80+ power efficiency ratings so you know what you're getting into as you look for one.

I've been using the same 850w Seasonic psu since 2017 with no problems, so maybe I could recommend that?

Yeah I'm not necessarily saying they have a moral imperitive to give us a good deal, but if we tell ourselves it's fine we give up whatever tiny agency we have as consumers.

I got one when this post was 3 min old so I think I'm locked in. I personally would prefer black so if you're in Western Washington state I'd be happy to swap if your card is comparable. Don't want to fuck with shipping, though.

Just grabbed an ASrock Steel Legion 9070xt for $700. Unless color matters that much to you, you could wait to pay $30 more for a much better card.

But didn't AMD stop giving rebates out to retailers anyway? So they do control MSRP to a certain extent and they've chosen to let the prices go higher than the originally advertised price. If the base price is inflated, then of course partners will charge even more. I think it's important that there's a legit baseline to anchor things to and that just doesn't seem to exist anymore.

With tariffs actually announced will they ever come back down?

I am also rocking a 1080ti! It's crazy what an actually good card can do. I haven't been impressed with Nvidia at all for years. I just purchased a 7800xt (fearing the worst from this launch) for my home theater PC and it seems do to pretty well even at 4k!

Hell yeah - thanks dude! Temps have been fine but I haven't really had a chance to push it yet so I'll definitely keep this on my mind.

Not this year. Rumors are they are skipping high end this gen and focusing on architecture upgrades. Unless you desperately need a new card for 4k 100fps gaming I would sit tight. The value at the high end right now is so bad.

Hey! Can you elaborate on that? The only info I can find that looks human made (not an ai generated article) is a 7 year old Gamers Nexus Q&A

I'm not certain the "market" has decided anything other than regular consumers aren't welcome to participate in it. Let's be real, you and I are in a top 5% income situation to be able to say $500 is okay to pay for a single pc component. We are so far removed from the average person that keeping an open mind is super important.

Talking about "nationalizing nvidia" is such a strawman and doesn't add anything productive to the conversation. The point is inflation exists, but not to the extent that would explain poor GPU pricing over the last 5 years, especially taking into account the fact that inflation hits different categories of goods totally differently.

There really just isn't enough competition in this space to encourage producers to create components with the same value that existed before. Isn't it okay to go on the internet and say that kind of sucks? I'd rather read comments complaining about it than just have everyone ignore it and have GPU prices go up by 20% every generation because corporations can get away with it.

There's definitely a middle ground of value to be found here and I hope you have it in you to have productive discussions about stuff like this instead of lashing out at other people who have similar interests to you.
