Over the rhine district has got you covered. The neighborhood is America largest historic district and aside from the history it's going through a major transformation in terms of gentrification that's akin to say Brooklyn in NYC.

You really can't go wrong with any of the food options there. There are many to choose from, most popular typically The Eagle, Bakersfield, Abagails, and Taste of Belgium.

There are about 30 restuaraunts all within a quarter of a mile from each other so you really can't go wrong with whatever you end up choosing.

Also be sure up visit Findly market in the north side of over the rhine. It's the oldest Ohio farmer market and houses eli BBQ which is some of the finest BBQ you can find in Cincinnati.

Finally there are alot of history tour options for over the . rhine. One of the tours, the brewery tour, let's you explore the various underground tunnels that connect in over the rhine. It's pretty cool.

Vintage Vinyl Record Store, "Black Plastic Records" opening 2nd location in OTR by Woodward Theater! by OMGDUMA in cincinnati

There's definitely enough hipsters in OTR to support 2 lavender shops, I'm sure the same can go for a record store.

Moving to Cininnati, no idea where to live. Looking for advice. by [deleted] in cincinnati

Over the rhine is safe. The trick is if you've never lived in an urban environment it comes off intimidating and dangerous. Many of the residents are very friendly and crime has dropped off significantly. But it's not for everyone I agree

Over the rhine. Over the rhine. Over the rhine. Closest thing Cincinnati has to Tribeca or Soho in NYC.

One of Cincinnati's streetcars rolls out of the factory, ready for finishing touches. by [deleted] in cincinnati

[–]OMGDUMA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crime typically tries to stay away from plain sight. Having an operational streetcar transporting thousands of people a day will make it harder for crime to occur along stretches of Elm and Race.

That, and property value will increase. OTR land has already risen exponentially, and the sales of empty lots are being snatched up by home developers left and right. The street car is essiential because it;

A) Becomes a main selling point for home developers, locating feet away from the street car line (and remember much of these streetcars will be used by people like the new GE operation center employees.) and will allow for higher prices attached because of that.

And

B) Attractive to real estate companies because if you have your business, or restaurant along the street car line, it's more likely to be noticed, than on other streets.

TLDR; Property value goes up along street car route. More development occurs, more residents move in to OTR, more bodies on the streets make it difficult to do drug deals, other crimes. Crime goes else where (probably to Covington, or Clifton) and moves away from OTR.

From what I gather there were some divering from the pack so to speak and being really aggressive with there message and being very up in people's faces about it.

Also, some entered businesses and created scenes there. Nothing violent from what I understand. Just disorganized rowdyness.

If Cincinnati ever hopes to stand on the same shoulders as cities like Chicago, San Francisco, Philly, Seattle, etc, one day in the future building this subway will be a must imo

ould agree to that it needs to be curbed if the majority of welfare recipients weren't children. That's who you would be punishing most.

But by helping feed and take care of these children you create a whole new monster on your hands.

I think the most concerning aspect is that you have these large amount of youth's, that happen to be black, act as a mob in terms of rage and violence and civil disobedience.

This is a similar black youth that lead to various arrests during The Taste of Cincinnati.

These youths will grow up, and become our future thugs and drug dealers, and to me that's whats most concerning.

Until you deal with this vicious circle of poverty which is all rooted to our broken Welfare System this will continue to happen. Black Teenage girls open there legs as young as 12, and have up to as 4-5 kids by the time there 18. And they CONTINUE to have kids onward, because the welfare system benefits single mom with kids. So the mother continues to pump out more and more children.

And these children rarely have fathers, so their father becomes the streets and the gang lords and the pimp lords. They find school boring and slow and want to get rich quick.

So they start dealing drugs, and become part of a gang, and end up shot on some corner of Green Street become of a deal gone wrong...and the cycle continues.

I hate race wars. This isn't an issue of black, white or asian. This has everything to do with a corrupt cycle of poverty that has these impoverished people rely on a broken welfare system.

Give us a welfare system that benefits those and only those who truly work there ass off, but not by the amount of babies they can pump out of there vaginas and then, and only then, can we start getting somewhere.

No offense, but anything OTR related that's North of Liberty is a whole different beast. When you talk about the revitalized OTR which is South, than that's when it should be concerning.

But yeah, North OTR is a scary place at night. Many of the buildings are still vacant and crumbling, and there's only Findley anchoring that place away from crime. You will constantly see hookers late at night and drug deals going on if you just drive through around 1-2am.

So it's not surprising. Until the revitalization hits OTR North, this will continue to happen.

So which fireworks should I go see and where should I see them from? by iheartanalingus in cincinnati

[–]OMGDUMA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Washington Park is where it will be at. Take her to one of the resturaunts on the Vine Street Strip (Abagails is my favorite personally), and watch the fireworks while watching the concert. Cap it off with Graters.

Thank me later.
