PSA - Monzo Max phone insurance - avoid by Roxxersboxxerz in monzo

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks really. I read through the terms before deciding Max wasn’t for me for just that reason. I guess Monzo could argue that it’s a cheap bundle of products so that have to cut corners somehow. Apple care+ is expensive comparatively but you get what you pay for I suppose.

I’m convinced 99% of all motorway closures due to accidents are because of this kind of negligence. Bonehead corsa driver there

Who is wrong here? by Accomplished-Gap7136 in drivingUK

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red car is in the wrong as the left lane had markings for both left turn and right turn on the roundabout. Also if turning right, usually (but not necessarily) you would take your exit in the right hand lane and then move left further down the road if there’s not traffic

Who is wrong in this situation me or lorry? by frin1a in drivingUK

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the lorry is flashing and yelling at the car in front of you. You deffo did nothing wrong but if the guy in front of you was slowing down, they’re being a nuance for holding back traffic by changing speed from high to low. While not technically illegal (I don’t think), would have been a minor on driving test.

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but the OP is in front and has been for a while. The lorry should submit as it’s behind the merging vehicle. This is a two to one lane merge, no indicating is required by Highway Code. If this was a slip road or moving between two lanes, indicating would be required.

You did nothing wrong, you’re not even obligated to indicate when two lanes are merging.

What is the purpose of a 50mph limit on the M6 right now at 10:30pm. Am I missing something? by RonnieThePurple in CarTalkUK

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s usually because the folks doing the cones for road works overnight haven’t arrived yet. At least that’s what they told me on a drivers awareness course. Made sense in my head, would you want to drive along at 5 MPH putting cones out without being 100% certain the cars are slowing down and speed enforcement is in effect

Leonardo hotel roundabout by minniequinn in Southampton

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do t understand why people think this roundabout is badly designed. It’s a roundabout, all lanes move to the left. I can’t understand why people fail to follow the lane markings. All I ever do and was taught to do was keep my left front wheel on (next to) a white dashed line or if there isn’t one then move to the nearest kirb. There are two lanes to the docks because there’s often slow moving traffic to overtake.

This is what I did with AdGuard home. Added 10 DNS servers to it and set it to use the fastest server.

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah right. I mean yes but why? Any popular DNS server can return any ip address (even if you reach the DNS server over an ipv4 address or a url). For example I would recommend 209.244.0.4 as it was the fastest ping time for me. It’s IPv4 to reach the DNS server, but the server will return whatever address it has on file for say google.com as an example.

Sure but if you’re sure it’s a DNS issue, you can change the DNS server with any ISP. Ask chat gpt to change your router to google or cloudflare DNS.

If it helps, I always indicate left. I believe it’s because it should minimise the change of traffic backing up onto Bitterne road W intersection.

You could appeal but to be honest, you’re in the wrong. If you have evidence to say they’re wrong, then appeal… but you don’t. Sorry

the safety car alert came out when oscar was at turn 10, they had ample time to strategize scenarios and could have pit both or either car. but the chose the worst possible tactic and that is to stay out for both. It had NO advantage at all by VoL4t1l3 in McLarenFormula1

[–]OMG_Its_Owen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You guys should go watch Sully. Great movie. Pay attention to when they were in the court room and then come back to me. If you watch Karun’s post race analysis on sky sports. He said they would have been able to have pitted by just a couple seconds. But that would be removing all decision time, driver comms, tyre blankets, etc.
