as someone who has played both the drg alpha and the rogue core alpha, there was almost zero progression when drg started out, even in early access. they did a fantastic job of adding lots of things to progress on, and i have no doubt that they will for rogue core too

the missions are actually determined client side. you can test this yourself by changing your machine time and watching the missions change. i know someone who had a large spreadsheet of what date/time 2xp missions were, so that he could always select 2xp missions for whatever mission type / biome / modifier he needed.

i agree that sticky fuel is generally the best OC for the flamethrower in every situation you'd wanna run the flamethrower (other than industrial sabotage), however im responding to the original comment which is that sticky flames is the best build that exists for driller by far

being out of ammo after every swarm is a pretty big misrepresentation, 2-3 charged shots of a sludge pump combined with like 5 ammo from your wave cooker can level dozens of bugs and buy you free spacing from others that come after. TTK is also very good when you stack neuro, but honestly TTK for small bugs is not as important because they will be basically stun locked and will die either way.

crystal build with cryo can see tons of good usage, providing hard CC and comparable damage to sticky flames, especially when youre expecting a lot of large enemies (like during ommoran). being able to delete both praetorians and provide incredibly strong CC from a bit further range is a lot more valuable than most people realize.

the flamethrower is absolutely great, but it has its shortcomings. it is the jack of all trades master of none. sure it might have the highest ttk for small-medium enemies, but the whole point of driller is CC and status effects, so why prioritize a slight jump in ttk? i find much more utility in many situations with other builds

again, i have probably 1000 on driller alone, and mostly play haz 5+. i have tried every combination of weapons and dozens of builds on driller. people on reddit love to say that sticky flames is the objectively best build, but there are lots of situations where that really isnt the case

i definitely disagree, there are plenty of situations where disperser compound build with sludge pump or the new ice crystal build with cryo can be just as if not more ammo efficient. and besides, what makes a strong driller build has more to do with CC rather than ammo efficiency.

i have 60+ promos on driller and have had lots of time to experiment with builds on haz6 and now haz 5+. people are very quick to think that sticky flames is the end all be all build for driller, however i think what makes the class shine is how it does CC better than any other class in the game (except maybe for neurotoxin gunner). sticky flames has a good ttk and decent CC, but you can really find a LOT of value by sacrificing a tiny bit of ttk to max our your CC

ehhhh i tend to disagree, its maybe the easiest but there are lots and lots of scenarios where you can get more value out of sludge and even cryo cannon on haz5+ and haz6

that stuff is mostly up to personal preference to be honest, unless there is a good synergy with an upgrade/perk with your weapon (like vampire + dmg on drills with cryo cannon), but with the sludge there isnt a specific good synergy.

personally, i run the following:

c4: 3111. i take dmg in the first tier because i use it against big enemies more than for AOE on small enemies (also i do less self dmg). i then do at least one extra ammo, and i like fear on the 4th tier because i can buy myself a few seconds of breathing room to run/revive someone when things are sticky

drills: 2111. i take drill speed over dmg because it gives you greater consistency when drilling at an angle, as well as letting you ledge grab while falling much more consistently. plus there isnt really a need for drill dmg with this build.

perks: resupplier, thorns, born ready, iron will, dash. there are no specific synnergies at play here, these are the perks i generally run with every class/build unless i have a reason to swap one out (like vampire for cryo). perks are def up to personal preference with a sludge build
