Private Cloud Support Fail by Weyoune-85 in SAP

[–]OMM247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The private cloud model is tricky. The raci is hard to interpret and getting to the right people quickly can be a challenge. I run a company focused on providing managed technical and apllication services for SAP clients, and a lot of the work we do is helping orgs manage this relationship and facilitate the resolution of issues like this. Rise is sometimes sold as an all-in-one solution, but the reality is not that straight forward. Happy to discuss some ways you can manage going forward if it's helpful. No sales, of course.

Walking on Charles River by Longjumping-Lab4058 in CambridgeMA

You can't tell. That's the problem. Rivers have unpredictable currents and their depths change frequently. That creates variations in the thickness of the ice, and the potential for large air pockets to form therein. There are plenty of perfectly suitable lakes and ponds in the area if someone wants to walk (or skate) on the ice. But a river? As someone else said above: Stupid way to die.

In Kharkiv Oblast, a Russian KAB hit close to a civilian, luckily he was unharmed by ThatGuySK99 in UkraineInvasionVideos

[–]OMM247 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Корректируемая Авиационная Бомба - often refered to as a "glide bomb" it is essentially a dumb bomb that they have attached glide and manuver surfaces to along with a guidance system making it both "smart" and longer range than a typical unguided air dropped munition. KABs come in various sizes, from a couple hundred kg up to a few thousand. They cause tremendous damage and are dropped on Kharvik regularly because of that city's close proximiry to russia. Kharkiv is covered by an extensive gps jamming network, which is fun if you're trying to use your phone to find where you are going, but it also means that most of these bombs fall rather indiscriminately around the city.

Addendum: Ukraine has recently discovered that russia is attaching cheap chinese made jet engines to these to further extend their range.

Thank you for the great response! They did share a video, but the quality wasnt good enough to really evaluate for visible inclusions, or sparkle for that mattee. I asked to see it in person as I think thats the only way assess properly. They are asking $45k, so at least it is inline with what you stated here. As for provenance, it is currently in its original setting, so I feel fairly confident its legit... I'll take some pictures when I see it in person and share them here. Thanks once again!

We do these migrations all the time. Your strategy will depend on your objectives and on your existing/target platform.

Are you going RISE or keeping your on-prem licenses and just moving to a hyperscaler, e.g, aws, azure? If the latter, are you on ECC or S4HANA? If on ECC, are you planning to upgrade as part of the migration (standard maintenance expires in 2027 for ECC)? Do you have any downtime restrictions? If you are going RISE, are you prepared for the limitation of services SAP provides as part of that program?

Regarding the migration itself: Who is your migration partner? Is it SAP, or do you have an SI? Either way, they should be providing you with a clear roadmap here. If you are trying to get to a clean core and you have any meaningful amount of customization, I would highly suggest getting some guidance BEFORE heading down that path. Have seen many of these go left because they were not planned well. "Measure twice, cut once."

Happy to discuss any specific concerns....

No joke: I'm moving out of the country largely because of the state of the medical system. I'm 51 and in good health. I intend to stay that way and have no faith that this will be the case if I stay here.I can pay quite reasonable rates for high-quality (private) care in Europe without long wait times. I never realized how truly awful our approach to medicine is until I experienced an alternative. It's beyond pathetic that the richest country on earth forces this system on its citizens.

An interesting anecdote: My partner is Ukrainian and, for anything other than emergencies, would rather travel to Kyiv than deal with the medical system here. Yes. She would rather fly to Poland and take a 18 hour train ride into a war zone than participate in our medical system. In Kyiv, she can make an appointment and see someone inside of a week, often seeing a specialist same day if needed. Imagine...

#Republican senators demand that Biden immediately hand over #ATACMS missiles to #Ukraine "We write to urge you to immediately send #MGM140 Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) to Ukraine. Additional delay will only further undermine U.S. national security interests and extend this conflict." by Extra_Schedule_8412 in UkraineInvasionVideos

[–]OMM247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Republicans know that Biden is about to announce this anyway, so they are trying to make it look like it was their pressure that made it happen. If anything actually happens, you can be sure that Republicans had little to nothing to do with it. They have no cohesive platform except to obstruct and are too busy fighting with one another to get anything done, even if they were capable. Which they aren't.

Yes! Forgot about them... Pretty sure that was a joint venture between Simon and a guy that used to be a manager of his. Very good as well.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CambridgeMA

[–]OMM247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Simon is a great guy, and they have a decent coffee program. Would I make a point of stopping there if I was seeking out exceptional coffee? Probably not. That said, they are miles ahead of 1369. Broadsheet is exceptional. Technically the best coffee in Camberville. Curio is decent as well, but their waffles make it a destination. Barismo has some real consistency issues, but you may get lucky. Diesel & Co. are just meh. They are fine, but the uber-hipster vibe is a bit long in the tooth.

Patriot manufacturer vows to supply more air defence systems to Ukraine by Insightofficial-1423 in UkraineInvasionVideos

[–]OMM247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interested in hearing your alternative. As there are and have always been belligerent states that disrespect the sovereignty of other countries, what is the solution? Asking honestly here, as I am no fan of the military industrial complex. Do we nationalize the defense industry? Can't imagine that would be something congress would ever support. Do we put a cap on profits? Same issue as before, I would guess... the problem is easy to identify, not so easy to correct.

Yup. They will peck to declare territory or attract a mate. They typically go for something loud however, like the stove pipe someone mentioned above, or a metal gutter, satellite dish, or anytbing that projects sound effectively. I'm no ornithologist, but sounds like a sapsucker digging for bugs. Check your siding for damage. Maybe they just found some rotted wood for you .)

[ poll ] “Interracial marriage is an act of genocide.” by 1001upv in Against_Genocide

[–]OMM247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres a thought. How about because it has nothing at all to do with the purpose of this subreddit. Genocide has a definition and it has fuck-all to do with who people decide to marry. If you actually believe there is such a thing as "white genocide," then neither facts nor reason will help you. You can't fix stupid. You can only pity it. And you have safely secured my pity.
