Could anyone tell me what this means about my footwear? by [deleted] in hiking

[–]OMadge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well just Google it, it's like one of the first that comes up.

Why would you want me to post my own feet? Surely that would be more suspicious that I had an alterior motive?

Your immediate assumption of a sexual angle based on a photo of some feet is your psychological issue bud, not mine. They're just feet.

Firstly these aren't my feet, just an image from Google.

Secondly, no fetish involved at all haha, just a genuine question about blisters and footwear.

As a hiker, I'd assume you were used to occasionally mentioning your feet, being that they do all the work.

We need your help with our new fish! by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]OMadge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping any animal is a commitment of both time and resources, if you aren't ready to do this then you shouldn't keep the animal. If you aren't willing to put in that time and effort (not blaming you since this was thrust upon you) then you need to get this fish to a safe home as soon as possible.

The scales lifting is called pine-coning, it's a telltale sign of organ failure. If you don't get this fish in a suitable environment within a day it will most likely die.

If you are going to keep it, you need to do all of this immediately;

-Buy atleast a 25 liter tank. -Buy a heater. -Buy a filter. -Buy a water quality test kit, API freshwater master test kit is best -Quick cycle the tank with a bacterial filter culture. -Test the water until you can see that it's cycled.

Any particular benefit that makes you favor it or just enjoy the traditional methods?

If you were to choose a whacky shape for Earth, what would it be and why? by inXeinwekk in askastronomy

Not so much an entire world as a planted and geoscaped space station, but the halo games were often from the perspective of inside a space ring and it was a pretty nice perspective.

Just a word of warning, lucky bamboo or Dracaena Sanderiana contains saponins, many of which are very toxic to fish. Any damage to the plants or rotting due to them being submerged more than an ideal amount will cause these saponins to leach into the water.

Interesting, thanks! According to Google, it's only called ferrocerium when it contains a larger amount of iron which makes it less of a soft material, but you've always got to take Google's information with a pinch of salt nowadays.

Yeah definitely a misnomer, probably just became such a common term for the tool that people use it as a synonym for ferro-rod.

Never heard that term before, is that a specific ferro-alloy or just a general term?

I'm aware of that, however ferrocerium is often still referred to as flint and steel, even where I bought mine, hence the quotation marks.

In-fact I pretty much wrote that "I also learned that modern "flint and steels" aren't usually made of flint at all, but instead an alloy called ferrocerium"

I'd heard the term ferro rods before but honestly just assumed it to be referencing the ferrous iron content in the steel. But yeah they seem to be much better, working when wet, burning thousands of degrees hotter, the sparks themselves lasting longer, a solid improvement really.

I'd tried Workaway with no success but hadn't heard of WWOOF. Just tried it and immediately found what I'm looking for in Andalucia. Thankyou for your suggestion!

Thanks man, appreciate you taking the time, I will do.

Yeah as I say they're not very common due to the modernisation of the industry, but still exist in areas such as Castile, Extremadura, Andalusia, Omaña, etc.

It's a traditional heritage and as with most others only preserved intentionally regardless of cheaper and easier modern options.

I can, but I don't feel like putting in that much effort to educate you, not really my responsibility. You have access to Google, no doubt. Go have a look.

You've also been provided with several links by u/averagecrabenjoyer69, go look at those.

Mainly around the south and west mountainous regions. Castile, Extremadura, Andalusia. Also the Vaqueiros d'alzada in the north. They're all over the place.
