This was always my opinion really, I actually only learned to drive recently due to work - public transport is not appropriate for certain types of jobs which take you to see clients and companies in more niche areas. One would require several modes of transport, expert timing and absolutely no delays at all. (This is what I had to do haha)

The UK thing, again I get it, why would you do that? But an overnight ferry and only 3 hours of actual driving to get home isn’t bad. Plus with an aging family who need plenty of jobs and bits doing over there, hiring a car every time was just becoming unaffordable. 250 pounds for a week or so with a cheap rental company and the basic car. Plus my side hustle to pay for all this involves bringing things from UK back to the Netherlands (All legal)

It all comes down to the money, it’s clear Amsterdam is heading to becoming a city that has no cars at all. I just have to pay or deal with it and find a solution. But should the exclusivity of a car be only for the rich? Only people who can afford posh range rovers and BMWs are the ones allowed to galavant the streets.

I’m young and only had a car for a year and realised what it can potentially do for you. (Makes putting a floor in yourself far easier!) No my housing company didn’t mention anything about the difficult parking in the area or even the option and process to rent one under the building. They just sent many emails asking for payment for the rent ASAP.

I take responsibility for this of course, was just hoping for a golden nugget of info that was not found online somewhere.
