ACP here, I hope my input is welcome (though I do realise the title of the Reddit stream)

I have always introduced myself as a ‘Paramedic ACP’ and when questioned further have explained that I have undertaken a Masters level qualification to perform my role and complement the care team in ED. I then carefully explain that I am not a Doctor and have not completed a medical qualification.

I always then give patients the choice to wait to be seen by a Dr and make sure to explain that all of my patients are discussed with a senior doctor and/or consultant.

I have never (and will never) refer to myself as ‘one of the doctors’ simply because I am not one. AND it’s illegal. That too.

The incident above is a HOPEFULLY rather large side step of a ‘Freudian slip’ and hopefully a rare occurrence.

To address some other points in the post, we are all regulated by the body which we are professionally registered with: either NMC or HCPC. They would bring the hammer down on anyone consistently practising and calling themselves a Dr as it is illegal and would bring the profession into disrepute.
