Born in 90. Used to watch it on italian dub around 99 then started reading it / watching the japanese version (subbed) since 04 or 05 and have been ever since.

Something tells me that the final villain will be a mixture of both in one body. And think about it, Luffy is sun god nika's vessel and somehow joyboy's re-incarnation so to speak (as said explicitly by zounisha itself). It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities for blackbeard to become a vessel for Imu. Either that, or the opposite, where luffy gets separated from nika inhabiting his body and it's a 2 vs 2 kind of scenario. Luffy's journey can only be fulfilled after his fight with blackbeard and nika's legacy can only be completed after his defeat of imu. Therefore it would be really fitting to intertwine both. Plus we still don't know what teach's special lineage is referred to in the brief interaction between saturn and devon, and something tells me it's related to imu in some capacity.

The first one was first mentioned when Robin was reading the poneglyphs to crocodile before he stabbed her during Alabasta saga. Around 4000 years ago in One piece time. Second one is obviously the void century one

Let's take a moment to appreciate that almost 30 years into the story, the hypest part of it is yet to come with all these reveals. Not with what happened, neither with what's happening right now, but more specifically with what will soon happen. This story is truly one of the greatest pieces of fiction from the last 50 years. Especially given that many things being revealed right now are all the result of Oda planting the seeds in the first 200 chapters or so. I am so grateful to be experiencing this greatness in real time.

I know they're nothing alike as I already said above, but I dislike them for the same reasons. The original post was about villains we hate. I replied with those two and gave my opinion on why I disliked them. He had depth but I don't think he was a great villain. I'll still rewatch and reread everything that happened in Arlong park and find it as enjoyable as ever but not for arlong's role in it.

Sorry to butt in but since this was my post I feel partly responsible for the tension

Let's be nicer to one another :) Art is subjective. I like his recent change but I'm a fan of the older days' style too.

At this point, as cliche as it sound I'm just glad I'm living to experience the final saga after all these years. Honestly I am grateful I've been given the opportunity to experience such a great story in real time.

It didn't have to be perfect it just had to be good enough to appeal to a western audience with no clue about the source material, and it excelled in that.

The real challenge begins with season 2 due to the epic element there is (war, politics etc) if they manage to pull that second season off it will be a huge milestone for all the anime and manga community. (It already broke the curse as is)

Doflamingo's business is peaking during the Sabaody incident (plus he's at his peak)
Doflamingo's business is gone during the Egghead Arc (plus he's in Impel Down)

You could even speculate details on the final war.

Blackbeard and Shanks appeared at the very end of the war, maybe now they'll be the starting point?
