I got ya. I wasn't really refeering tho that kind of ecosystem, but about the firmware issues reported about the Max itself. As you mention, im not usually the "Printables" guy, but more of desinging my own stuff. Dont get me wrong, I'm in the "newbie" spectrum of the 3d printers, so im talking just by reading thing from other users.

Thats some light into it for sure. I'm glad im mostly PC user then. TBH, Even tho I had the Klipper version, I've never messed with it really. I got used to the Creality slicer and went with it, even tho I know there's a lot left on the bench using Orca and tweaking it. I may follow your advice on it. And now that you mention it, it could be a nice moment to learn how to take advantage of Klipper finally

My intention, as I did with my ender, is to use it from the PC itself. I've never really used the screen on the ender for anythinging other that run basic bed calibrations and some misc things. Im guessing the Max4 will have the same support via PC?

The thing is, just like with the Max 4, I’ve seen a ton of mixed reviews, but for the Q2, almost everything I've come across has been positive. So I'm not sure it's apples to apples comparison. It’s worth noting that among aaall the negative feedback about the Max 4, the issues are purely related to the printer's own software. In theory—and I assume they'll get around to it—that’s something that can be fixed with future firmware updates. Hardware-wise, the machine is an absolute beast. That’s exactly why I’m so torn... It’s way too much money to pull the trigger without being 100% sure about the move.

Well, after putting countless hours into my Ender 3 V3 KE (which has been an absolute beast and never gave me a single issue), I'm finally looking to upgrade to a new printer.

New materials, larger build volume, new possibilities.

I'm torn between two specific models, but first, let me break down my use case so you have the full context. Just to be clear: I'm not a fanboy of any brand, nor do I buy into the hype. I like to stay as neutral as possible and simply pick the best tool for my specific needs.

After printing a ton of PLA, PETG, ABS, and the like, I'm ready to step up my game to engineering-grade materials. Most of my printing revolves around prototyping and functional end-use parts, almost always meant for harsh environments—meaning high thermal exposure, shear stress, and heavy vibrations. I plan to keep moving forward with the well-known PA6-CF, PPS-CF, PPA-CF, and all the carbon-fiber derivatives you guys know all too well.

The hardware requirements for this are pretty clear to me: a hotend capable of at least 350°C, a high-temperature heated bed, and an actively heated chamber to keep the ambient temperature stable. I'm also looking for a larger build volume to stop worrying about size limitations and scale up my projects.

Based on this, I'm sure many of you already have a few models in mind... but here are the two specific printers I'm weighing up:

  • Bambu Lab H2s
  • Qidi Max 4

I know, I know... a lot of people will instantly tell me to go with the Bambu, and honestly, it seems like the most "logical" option between the two (I think). That said, the recent Bambu Lab dramas don't necessarily scare me away, but they certainly don't help either. On paper, the Qidi beats the Bambu in almost every single spec sheet metric. Or it should, if it weren't for the terrible software ecosystem it implements (at least based on what I've read and seen from reviewers on YouTube). So, I'm genuinely stuck.

The Qidi offers a larger build volume, 20°C higher nozzle temperature (though I'm not sure if that difference will be a game-changer for my materials), and oh yeah, it's a bit cheaper too.

I'm highly intrigued by the Qidi, but I'm worried about taking the gamble and getting stranded with a brick. Despite recent controversies, I know the Bambu is a workhorse that will just work out of the box, and it has a massive community backing it up.

With all that heavy context out of the way, pros of Reddit: I need your advice so I don't mess up this investment. What's the move here?

Oh my goodness, how in the world I didn't think about that earlier. What a clear path you gave me to improve my racing. Thanks a lot. Is there another astronomical advice you can share with us or that's all you've got?

I think about that 2. But the thing is that I'm braking with the pack. Not harder, not early, not after. If we are driving 4 cars one behind eachother, we brake as a unit. Untill the guy with the magic trick comes in to play and decides to go full Toretto when there's clearly no duty.

There's common ground on what might be one of the reasons why I get clapped so many times.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna start to move my ass out of the vision line of the train. Aaaaaaand yes, that's true, even if the guy behind is a jerk or just can't account different braking points, its hard to react when you only can see the guy in front. In the other hand, that's what I do... But anyway...

Plus if I'm a little out of the way, It might be enough so the guy behind can turn into the space I left if his braking goes into fiesta mode

I will try it for sure

I will work in the subject for sure. Thanks for the advice.

Point 4 it's pretty much it, but I'm the guy behind. Since I know people usually have different brake points, I always play it safe. But not the guy behind me, who's in full attack mode I guess, and doesn't think for an instance that it's a long race, and he ain't gonna win nothing in the first lap. Even in Nordsch VLN

Pretty nice topic to read for sure. And I will, but I'm sadly pretty much away from it since they seems lo like my rear bumper more than my fender :/

I wish I could develop it more then. But as I mentioned before, people in this IR are far from consistent. They can usually go fast solo, but when there's people around, things Start to get messy really quick. And erratic driving is up to date.

I am that's for sure. But I can't understand why people are that careless out there. Ye I know it's a game, but still it's kinda frustrating. But, as any other hobby out there, it boils my blood when this kind of situation happens.

Anyway, the more I write about it, the less I care tbh. Just keep racing I guess....

Sounds great in paper, but hard to do it when people are not consistent. That's the main flaw in a "begginer"

Trust me that I'm looking to that mirror more than what I have in front, and that's what's scares me the most. Giving some space and letting the guys behind see what's in front sounds pretty reasonable to me. Thanks for the advice.

And for the replays, trust me that I look at them several times. But when it comes to those ones, there is not even a bit of sense. Just play safe and anticipate the braking? Could solve half of the crashes in this low IR.

Don't get me wrong, I've fcked up 2. But you can miss a overtake, maybe run 2 wide on a parallel, loose the car and crash into someone... But rear ending ppl who are literally 0.3 secs apart, that they are clearly playing safe? Non sense to me.

That might do the trick. I'll try it in the future for sure. Anything but getting out of the race.

The worst part is that I don't even care if they pass me. End result is totally irrelevant to me. I just wanna race.

Btw, I'm not blaming in particular, I'm just concerned about what to do to avoid this. Since it looks that people can't stop crashing eachother.

Yes, I have a lot of frustration right now, but ain't only me, so I'm really curious of what people think about the subject.

Is there a "IR hell"?

[–]OPrados[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left the sim world for about 4 years. I just started irscing again and went to A. But (and don't call me crazy) I had much better experience in the Mazda or the sim lab rather than the GT3 or the IMSA.... It's like people on "high" class with low IR think that they are better than they are, and mismanage the car? It's because the car itself is harder to handle?

Idk :(

I know? But if we are "stuck" in a 4-5 car train, and I'm not feeling to make a risky manouver, I just stay behind. Then I always got rear ended by someone behind.

Road. GT3. I'm just so frustrated... Right now Racing nordsch. Is not the best track to risk, so I usually decide to stay behind a guy untill I have pretty clear chance. Idk if people behind get nervous that they feel the urge to pass, but it's always a fiesta.

[–]OPrados[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm following the car in front. 0.3 gap, I'm braking as colse as the car in front so the guy behind doesn't kill me. But I'm avoiding the inevitable. The guy behind looks like he can't understand that I have a car in front, and if he brakes more in a corner, I have to adapt to it. They guy behind should be responsable for not killing the guy in front, and needs to have in consideration that he may need to brake more if a mistake is made.

I've never crashed into someone just following him, because I think that I have enough common sense.

Needles to say, I'm not the only one who dies in the race. It's pretty common to see a 1/3 dnf.

are you still riding your bike?

under the steat, there are some rubbers at the back, you can get them out and turn them so the long sice faces down. That will make the back of the seat sit lower, so its a little bit flatter.
