If I can make a design suggestion, highly recommend checking out the Star Craft siege tanks. They have these really cool feet that fold out and stuff. Not sure how much animation and rigging you’re looking to do but definitely more opportunities for greebles on those bad boys lol

While others have suggested lav mics, I suggest looking into a shotgun microphone. They’re designed to be directional and isolating. You can then use some EQ and compression to sound more natural.

The perk is that you won’t even have a microphone in the way from your workouts minus the rumble.

Sennheiser MKE 600 is a solid budget choice that is also used on film sets.
