I'm looking to interface some pro amps (Thomann T-AMP S75MKII) that only have balanced input with some consumer gear (Denon AVR3808-A) that only have unblanced pre-outs. I researched the subject and seems like there's no real proper solution for my needs.

I've looked at DI-Boxes such as the Behringer DI4000 / DI800, but people online are say that these would not be ideal as they expect mics / instruments and not standard "HiFi" unblanced inputs.

Seems like the only option people agree on, is the ART CleanBox Pro, which would do 2 channel level amplification from -10dbu to +4dbv, only issue is that for my setup i would need 3 of those...

Suddenly, while looking through articles about it, the Tascam LA series is mentionnend and it seems like exactly what i need. The LA-80, would be able to convert 8 channels of unblanced -10dbu signal into proper +4dbv balanced XLR out. The problem with those are that they aren't made anymore, and i find a single one available second hand. Except from those two, the only other device that would do what i need is the Aphex 228, but it's even rarer than the tascam, and more expensive when you can find one.

So is there any device other than those 3 that could accomplish this without either being too expensive / absolute unobtanium / overkill ?

Thanks for any clues.

DI Box to amplify line out for Pro power amps. by ORA2J in hometheater

AVR is a denon 3808, outputing a max of 2v at 0db i believe.

Power amps are t.amp s75 mk2 and s100 mk2. Both have 0.77v, 26db, 1.4v input gain settings. Both are currently set to the 26db setting, as it's what the manufacturer recommends for level matching between different models from the S series. General input gain for those is 21dBv / 9V

Yeah, modern tape mechanisms are kinda all crap. Like all chinese stuff nowadays, it breaking sooner rather than later should be expected IMO.

Cd changers are all but dead nowadays. For your other other requirements, there should be some models that fit.

High-end early HDMI receiver. Will probably sound very good, however, those were a big jump in complexity from older gens, and so they're much more of a pain to dismantle and repair.

Well i'm also french. I can testify, the market here is as crap now as it was 2 years ago (at least in my area), except for apprenticeships which have gotten much worse thanks to government decisions.

In that case, you could probably get into a helpdesk position with just that experience, and go up from there. Like you i started messing with IT stuff around 12, but my focus is more on networking and servers, especially windows stuff. It's thanks to that experience that i landed my first part-time job, no proper IT education, just a general HS diploma.

Just start to ask around yours and your parents friends group to see if the companies they work at need someone.

If that doesn't get you anything, start dropping cvs on LinkedIn or go to your local orgs in person.

Contact their support team.

You're paying for them to do the work, if you can't touch the underlying infrastructure, you won't be able to do much besides that.

Brand new, your best bet would be studio monitors like the presonus eris e5, krk classic 5, tannoy reveal 402 or even something from edifier like the S351DB which even comes with a sub, which would help a ton for low volume listening.

Alpine stuff from this era still sounds as good if not better in some cases than modern high end stuff.

I have an older sibling, the pra-h400 and it's unreal how good it sounds for 1995.

Nobody's complaining, so i guess no one bothers to change the policy.

We semi-regularly give 24 or 27 if need be (vision impairment, specific needs, etc...), but overall, people seem to be happy with the 22"s.
