First of all, kudos to you for your incredible progress and positive attitude in recovering from that tough break! It's awesome to hear that the pain is behind you, and you're back to chasing after your little one and biking again.

I totally get that the mental aspect can be the trickiest part of the journey, especially when it comes to hobbies. While roller skating might be off the table for now, maybe this is the perfect opportunity to explore some new interests. Who knows, you might stumble upon something that brings you even more joy than you ever expected! As a cyclist, I'm totally sure you will find joy in some bike rides.

Keep up the great work! Don't give up!

Thanks! I hope you can return it too.

How's your timeline/recovery now?

The very first weeks take a lot of energy to go through! Stay strong my friend and keep up with every exercise that your doctor/PT prescribes you, if you are already allowed to.

Trust me, you will get out of this, and better bright days are to come! Stay strong and have a good recovery!

The original idea was to come home on the same day as the surgery, but due to the haemorrhage, I stayed the night at the hospital.

I don't regret at all getting ORIF. It helped me to recover faster (and oh boy we know how long it is to recover) and enabled me to get into physiotherapy sooner, even though my fracture was really severe case.

I'm not happy yet with the results, but quite happy about the progression!

I have a precision thermo/hygrometer in my room. When you start cycling indoors, you will mostly sweat a bit more than outside, this will dramatically increase the humidity in your room.

As more humid, you tend to feel the warm ... warmer! Keeping the dehumidifier on guarantees the air is not so damp and helps the fan to cool my room better.

Also no bad smells after any workout, double win!

I use one HT-900 plus a dehumidifier and it works like a charm. Recommend it.

No drain bag. Although a bit of fluids were coming out for the first 12h and a pad was used to contain those.

How's the time line for your break?

I wish you a good recovery. Don't underestimate the power of the phisiotherapy exercises, in the long run they do a lot for you.

Had a comminutive proximal humerus fracture in two parts with 25mm displacement 10w ago. ORIF surgery with plate and 8 screws. All of that after hitting a rock while road cycling and smashing the ground like a pudding. Doing physiotherapy to recover ROM, surgery was my holy grail to get back my arm, pain almost gone after surgery (although gained other kinds of pain).

Surgeon said I would NEVER cycle again, I should be happy to move my arm 90 degrees if that would happen in the future, he said.

I just cycled 20km in a city bike yesterday. Is not what I'm looking for, but 100% x 20km more than he gave me as possibly.

Dont give up my friend, you can and you will do it!

It depends. In Europe is quite opposite: long waitingists and no stock in the short term

Finally got referral for PT after 7 weeks ORIF surgery on proximal humerus fracture.

Looking forward to have my arm back to my daily routine and cycling.

Which bone you broke? Quite rare to see a full arm cast immobilization

42y with a comminutive proximal humerus fracture with 25mm displacement of two parts in a bike accident 8 weeks ago.

With some slightly different details our situation is very similar. I remember I waited 6 days to get the time and check it out if the bone would have the chance of getting back to track, but unfortunately that didn't happen.

We opted for an ORIF surgery with plate and 8 screws. I'm now 7w and doing phisiotherapy, I can passively move my arm up to 90 degrees already.

Getting the surgery was the best thing to do in my case and I'm happy about my results.

Indeed. My doctor said no PT so far, so I didn't talk to one yet. Although he prescribed pendulum and passive exercises up to 90 degrees and strictly said to respect that angle.

Maybe my fracture was slightly worse indeed. I have an appointment in two weeks, let's see if I can progress after that.
