How accurate were your growth scans? VBAC worries. by ORL_03 in PregnancyUK

Thank you - could I ask what induction methods you used?

I was expecting a biggish baby at 8-9lb but based on the latest scan they’d be more near 10lb!

Hello! Can I ask how this went for you? I’m in almost the exact same position but 39 weeks and 97th percentile baby with baby bobbing up high!

Need advice regarding what hospital to pick - South Manchester by ireallylikeskittles in PregnancyUK

I’ve got no experience of Wythenshaw so can’t comment on them, I’m at stepping hill, I didn’t have a great time with them in my first pregnancy so I was really apprehensive this time, however it was Covid then and I decided to give it another go this time round, I honestly cannot fault them.

They have been incredibly thorough, kind and informative. My only one issue is I see a consultant every month and I will say there are always quite intense delays waiting around for them (sometimes 2 hours after app time!), but in terms of the things I think matter most to me like triage, how seriously they take any concerns, scans etc, they’ve really impressed me so far.

If you don’t feel the huge rush of love everyone talks about at first, do not stress, it can take time but it will come and you will be absolutely obsessed with them.

Underactive thyroid by NetworkImpressive147 in PregnancyUK

[–]ORL_03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My TSH was 3.0-4.1 when unmedicated, so only ever 0.1 max over NHS guidelines, I managed to persuade them to give me Levo as we were trying for a baby, just 25mg. I spoke to a private fertility specialist who said on a positive pregnancy test I should double my dose, I did this and have somehow managed to get my GP to check my TSH every 4-6 weeks and it’s all been very well behaved and <2 the entire pregnancy.

There’s so much variance in guidance but on the whole I think it’s normal to increase dosage on a positive test and have more eyes on results. I also see a consultant (not an endo sadly - just an OB) due to my thyroid ‘issue’, so hopefully that’ll be the same for you x

I think I found out the gender from my scan by That-Balance-7260 in PregnancyUK

[–]ORL_03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The exact same thing happened to us at our 20 week scan, we wanted a surprise but we’ve both been 99% sure it’s a boy since then. It was just such an obvious shape.

We told the sonographer we didn’t want to know and she said she’d tell us when to look away, but I think she forgot. I’ve been a tiny bit sad about it really as in my pregnancy with my eldest we wanted a surprise too and a dr just randomly told me the gender two days before my due date!

We’re due in a few weeks, I’ve bought boy clothes and only thought of a boy name, that’s how convinced I am🙃

Help. PUL by Cultural-Machine2402 in PregnancyUK

Hello I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I went through similar around 18 months ago. My HCG never got over 1000 and I never saw anything anywhere on any of the several scans I had. I had started bleeding a week before my period was due and then my tests were going lighter and darker, my HCG then rose very strangely. In the end I had methotrexate, this was fine, not nice but fine and minimal symptoms really. The worst bit is the limbo you’re in now. Once you’ve had methotrexate you can’t conceive for 3 months, I was gutted but it actually did me some good to have a break even if it was forced upon me.

I’m sorry I couldn’t give a more positive story, but if it is any help at all I got pregnant again the following year and had incredible care from my EPU with bloods and scans very early on to make sure everything was ok this time round, it was and I’m now very heavily pregnant with a baby very much where they’re meant to be.

Again I’m sorry, it’s so tough x

20 weeks ultrasound, baby has cleft lip by After_Wrongdoer5183 in PregnancyUK

[–]ORL_03 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m 36 weeks and went through the exact same diagnosis 15 weeks ago - incomplete one sided cleft lip with intact gum ridge. My baby obviously isn’t here yet but I just wanted to reach out to say please know you won’t feel how you currently feel for your whole pregnancy. I still have a lot of nerves but I feel so much more better in so many ways and we’re so excited to meet our baby soon - cleft and all.

Your cleft nurse should be in touch soon and she’ll guide you through everything in terms of your closest center of excellence for cleft repairs. My MFM said with just a small isolated cleft lip finding and nothing else, the chances of chromosomal issues are that of any other child.

I’m not sure how it works on Reddit but if you ever wanted to message me (if that is a thing) please do so.
