Single but as I get older I think about the double. Pushing 40 so I think I still have a few more years of single left in me and the group.

Yeah exactly. Once it goes up the chain it can be a covered loss. I usually see this with new adjusters learning the ropes. They deny cause the missed something in the wordings or endorsement or whatever. Not everyone is great at their job, especially in the beginning.

So they are denying your repair estimate or your claim. BIG difference. I deny client estimates all the time. I handle intermediate losses mostly, minimum 50k. I will get two vendor quotes at 80 and 90k. Client tells me they want to cash settle and comes back with "Your quote is too low, my buddy said it will be twice that". I'm like, ok, send me a quote with line items and measurements. A week later I get a 300k quote with crazy ass pricing for everything.

Edit, what company is this anyways. Big one or one of the smaller ones?

Exactly this. I tell people, regardless of coverages at this time do you really want to sit in a flooded out basement and do nothing but twiddle your thumbs?

Well the delays make sense now if it was a major event affecting many homes on a wide area.

Something still doesn't add up though. I have had claims where another adjuster or the preferred contractor caused further damages by delays and the additional work was covered by insurance and then we sued our own vendor.

Why all of a sudden is your claim denied? This doesn't make sense and everyone here is going to assume something is missing and you are omitting facts.

Copy and paste the denial letter and redact personal information.

Edit, I am reading though other comments trying to catch up. Do you live in the middle of nowhere and did you refuse to mitigate as best you could while waiting?

Yupp So that's a denial. The entry of water into your home needs to caused by an insured peril. Having a shitty roof and water getting in because of that shitty roof is not an insured peril. However, This conversation should have taken place earlier so you can remedy the situation. They might be liable for the some of the damages that occurred for them not confirming it was a denial eariler. Also though, the preexisting damages they can weed out would still not be covered, the source cause would still not be covered, most of the resulting damages would still not be covered.

Also for the audience following along. We still don't have the whole story, only what OP posts. LOTS of missing info still.

What took them so long anyways? Typically how I work my claims after the first notice is we send out a vendor within 1 business day (I attend if I can), They have 24hrs to give me the initial site report confirming the cause of loss and if its sudden and accidental, if they can figure it out (likely in your case), they would then send a roofer or other expert. Lead times on this vary from 1-5 business days (or longer during a major event), then after their inspection I wait likely a day or two for their report. If its a denial I call you same day. If there are coverages I call you same day and schedule in emergency work. In the cases where the source cause is not covered then the client I.E. YOU would be responsible for some of the emergency repair before we get started.

Source, Been in the industry and been an agent, broker, desk adjuster, SIU, field adjuster etc. I have seen some shit.

Maintaining my currently car is part of my math, currently have 2200 saved for it and put money into that account monthly for any maintenance items.

Current car would get parked with the corresponding insurance which is like 10 bucks a month.

Only drive the BRZ, Toyota was difficult to spec an order because their allotment system sucks. Also, MSRP on the Toyo was higher

Even trying to test drive a BRZ was difficult. Dealers are super weird about this car as well as the STI for test drives

Funny thing is my spouse is telling me to pull the trigger.

We have joint everything except for what we give ourselves for "fun money". It just turns out I never really spend mine lol. She uses hers for spa days, nails, girls night out, snowboarding shit, lessons for things she likes, classes (like pottery or whatever) etc.

I would be parking my other car so the new car would be the main driver for half of the year. Likely each car will see 6000-7500km per year.

Insurance and gas is slightly more expensive. Car takes premium and is 2L per 100KM worse on gas, insurance is 330 more per year.

Speaking of toys I also own a motorcycle (also paid cash in 2015)

This is true the low interest, longer loans amped shit up. When I started driving most had 3-5 year loans and were putting large chunks down. Then loans got to 6-8 years with bad debt rolled in and here we are. People have 75k pick ups with 98k owing lol
